My kids like to wear those rash guard swim shirts to the pool in the summer. This year, two of my sons are wearing adult sizes, which cost a lot more per shirt. The least expensive I found was ~$29/shirt. Since I can sew, I ordered some swimwear fabric and I'm going to try my hand at making my own swimshirts. They are just t-shirts made out of swimwear fabric. Has anyone done this also?
~Haven't made my own rash-guards yet but I have made other swimwear out of old rash-guards. It was much easier to work with than I anticipated. Just take your time and I'm sure they'll turn out great!~
I finished the shirts a couple of weeks ago. The swimwear fabric cost $40 and was enough to make four shirts, plus have a little left over for something else.
They've worn them twice to swim and they hold up well. Here's a pic of dh and our olders boys before heading to the pool:
