Default Proud of what we accomplished-thanks FV

Dh has a garden. I don't call it mine because he takes care of it all. He says he enjoys doing it. So I don't argue and let him. (I hate yard work-lol) I do help put everything up though. As of last night, we have 16 bags of squash in our freezer. 12 jars of tomatoes. 3 bags of broccoli. And more to do. I have atleast 6 quarts of peas to put up. Some okra too. Butter beans aren't ready yet. Corn isn't ready yet either. I also have a basket of peaches to do something with and a box of plums. Not sure what to do with plums. I love to eat them so they won't go to waste. Any ideas??

My pantry shelf is full. I ran out of room. I have beans, string beans, corn, okra, carrots, potatoes, stewed tomatoes, salmon, hash, and spam. I guess my stockpile for those items is complete so now when I use any I can just re-stock. DH looked at it last night, smiled, and said that I did a good job.

My stockpile on other items looks pretty good too. I am buying on sale to restock instead of buying to begin to stockpile.

Dh and I are beginning to use cash for purchases instead of debit cards. We are paying off CC's so even though we have open credit we aren't using them.

We are beginning our EF. We have decided to keep it at home instead of the bank. Last year the IRS froze our accounts for back taxes. Due to living through that, we feel better having some $$ at home and out of their reach. Just in case of an emergency. We will keep one CC. That is going against Ramsey's advise but we also don't feel comfortable taking all $$$ on vacation. If an emergency (car trouble) came up on vacation we would have CC with us. Then when we got home we could pay CC off with EF.

I went to Wal-mart today and only bought freezer storage bags for $1.12. With cash. Not debit card. I went to Waldenbooks to look for canning/preserving books but checked those books out at our library.

Shopping at ALDI tomorrow. Saving on groceries there.

I have been paying our bills online, all except water-no website for them, so saving on checks and stamps.

I have a morning, afternoon, and evening routines and have been keeping to them. I don't have a problem during the school year but during the summer things are more relaxed. So my routines get relaxed too. Then things go into CHAOS. (OK, Flylady helps there)

So, I am proud of what we have been accomplishing and that is thanks to FV.

Sounds like you're doing well in your frugal life!! I've never made any, but my mother used to make plum jelly that was really good. That might be a way to used up your plums.
