A Small But Meaningful Success!
I had to share this because I am very new to this way of thinking about money and frankly, have been doubting my ability to really commit and make any sort of change. Tomorrow is pay day, and not only have I paid all my bills and lived off cash for the past two weeks, but there is $25 in my chequing account AND $300 in my savings account (I plan to put $200 of this as an extra payment on CC debt, and save the $100 towards an emergency fund)...I am so happy with myself, and whatever I would normally have blown that money on is not missed one bit!!

Congratulations!
That's a nice chunk of savings you have. I like the idea of paying down cc's but is $100 enough to cover any emergencies you may run into? We wouldn't want you to pull out a cc in an emergency if you don't have to.The Free Spirit Saver who walks the path with Greebo.

Congrats! I don't know if I necessarily agree with ceashels (no disrespect intended), but I think when you are paying a high interest credit card payment vs. a savings account paying less than one percent...take your chances! Pay down what you are already paying an arm and a leg for. Be sure to save some for emergencies, but get the credit card paid down AS FAST AS YOU CAN, rather than put that all in a low interest savings!
Besides that, congrats on taking control of your finances! I think it is one of the most empowering things you can do. There is such a sense of accomplishment in seeing your money grow!
