I know this is an older post but I just wanted to say how much it helped me today. So many of the success stories I've been reading online talk about just needing to stop wasting money in order to save. This is not our situation at all. We are drowning in our debt and not bringing in enough money to make it month to month.
I needed to hear about someone who was able to tackle their debt and rise above. I have been sitting here in tears today feeling like there was no way out for us. This has given me a bit of hope that maybe we will make it afterall.

Thanks for bumping this post. I read it when I first started here, it was a inspiration a year ago and still is.
We are tackling debt big time, we own our cars outright, never again will there ever be a car payment, medical bills except one are gone, and 2 CC's are gone, (cut up). There are more to go, but they don't stand a chance now, we have been hitting them so hard, they don't know where it came from. This time next year, hopefully we will be debt free,(barring no big emergency) other then our house, we are on track do have that paid off in 2017, instead of 2020.
Everybody continued success on your struggles to become debt free. Happy New Year. Aj

Thank you for bumping up this thread. I have been a little down in the dumps due to Murphy striking. However your post gave me the inspiration to proceed forward. It is always wonderful to hear about real life people who worked hard and sacrificed to become debt free. It seems from my family I hear such discouraging view points on my goal to become debt free. I think if it was not for prayer, all of you and my daily dose of Dave Ramsey I could not make it.
On this the last day of 2009 my wish is that everyone have a happy and frugal New Year.
