    Default RIP Sallie Mae

Okay, I quietly snuffed out my 1st credit card a few months ago but I think I want to have a wake for my Sallie Mae student loans. May they RIP.

I am so glad I didn't let my brother convince me to go back to school for an LPN or RN. Sallie Mae is staying dead.

Make sure everything is correct and complete with Sallie Mae.

After months of them mismanaging my wife's payments, we finally paid everything off in one large lump sum. Due to their estimation for payoff, we overpaid by $12. I called them the day after the payment posted, asking them for the refund, as well as a payoff statement. They said they would send it out, it should show up in less than 7 business days. Being an understanding person, and kind of forgetting, we gave them two weeks, with nothing showing up. The website still showed the overpayment, but nothing else done.

Both my wife an I called again, and they said it had been sent out, but it was sent out late. It will show up. "The check is in the mail" nonsense. Again, we waited. After about a month and a half, we hit our breaking point, and both of us started calling every day. The accounts were zeroed out online earlier this week, so we are hoping the check and statement will show up soon. I pulled her credit report, and at least that shows the accounts as paid off.

I hope things went well for you, and I highly recommend people go elsewhere for student loans.
