A tiny success
So I'm finding it very hard to be frugal. Spending on clothes used to be my hardest spot (now its fast-food but thats a different story!). So yesterday I let my ferrets out and noticed that their water bottled (made from an old pepsi bottle and a spout...lol) had finally given up the ghost, meaning, their cage was completely flooded. I cleaned it up and then decided to get them a real water bottle. So I went to the mall across the road. Stopped and got the mail first and to my suprise was our income tax returns and gst cheques...1500 altogether. So i thought "great! I really need a dress for my sisters wedding this weekend, then I'll need shoes to go with it, and I really need a new purse, of course, depending on the type of dress I'll need a new bra" etc. So I made my merry way through the mall into every clothing store, shoe store, purse store etc. Finally I left the mall with nothing but the water bottle for my boys (which was on sale half price!!).
I think I'm getting this frugal things slowly. Now to just convince Dh that the entire sum should go onto his student loan...lol.Debts

#1- Student Loan #1 - PIF!!!!!
#2- student loan - $5834
#3- student loan - $4900
Cc - PIF!!!
Total Debt
10734/33900 = 23166 paid!!!
Savings
2500/1000 - BEF fully funded!!!

You are a success!! You went through a mall with only buying what you needed and kept the big picture of paying off student loans in your mind. Good for you!!
I wish I could be that strong sometimes.

$1500 is a lot of money. I'd say you were very successful.

Good for you! It does take a conscious effort to do it. Personally, I'd just deposit the money on the student loan and inform him of it after the fact..lol. Because my dh always sees it as bonus money.

Great! and when you're truly ready to shop for the wedding, might I suggest checking out the thrift stores and/or consignment stores. I've really had some finds in those - especially for dressy clothes because people rarely wear them very many times before giving them up.
