Default I thought we'd veered off track!

When I sat down and calculated everything....

We actually STILL made headway!!! YAY! Sure we slowed down, but WE MADE PROGRESS ANYWAY!

I can't wait to be rid of this! I'm a little relieved too, thought the mortgage was to be renewed in 2008, but it is 2009! So we have a little more time to be debt free and pay that down for an even lower mortgage!

I was on the website... you can amortize for 40 YEARS???? Why??? We did 13 years. It makes it tight, but it's nice to see the principal payment getting BIGGER. I'd be scared at 40 years of going backwards. Why would you want to have a morgage in your retirement years?

DH couldn't retire until the mortgage is paid off, so once cc's are apid for we will start on the mortgage and hope to have it paid off within 10 years.

We just bought a new home and our first payment is coming up Aug 1. It is a 30 year, but I have plans to have it paid off in 13. I really have to stay focused and be the money police to make it happen. I've actually seen 50 year mortgages! Even worse, how bout the interest only or reverse equity. I want to leave my kids something...and not a huge pile of debt.
