Reached a great big goal!

Last summer I finally paid off the last debt, then turned my attention to savings. I was plugging along, but then I got that unexpected insurance payment last month that I've mentioned in other posts. I did several things with it:

Paid the last of the moving expenses

Bought a plane ticket to visit the best of all friends over Easter -- it's been a year and a half since I've seen them

(actually I would have gone even if I had to hock my last pair of socks to do it)

Brought my EF back up to a level to cover insurance deductibles and small, uh, surprises,

and

Pluncked the rest in my "Catastrophe Fund." I was able to add a little more to that when I got paid a few days ago and it's up to 4 months expenses! That was my goal for the whole year and it's DONE!

There may not be a lot more going in this year because my withholding is going way up to cover the taxes on my little windfall, but I am breathing so much easier having that there. I've learned, as so many here have, how quickly it can all fall apart from illness or job loss.
