Default Reached a great big goal!

Last summer I finally paid off the last debt, then turned my attention to savings. I was plugging along, but then I got that unexpected insurance payment last month that I've mentioned in other posts. I did several things with it:

Paid the last of the moving expenses

Bought a plane ticket to visit the best of all friends over Easter -- it's been a year and a half since I've seen them (actually I would have gone even if I had to hock my last pair of socks to do it)

Brought my EF back up to a level to cover insurance deductibles and small, uh, surprises,

    and

Pluncked the rest in my "Catastrophe Fund." I was able to add a little more to that when I got paid a few days ago and it's up to 4 months expenses! That was my goal for the whole year and it's DONE!

There may not be a lot more going in this year because my withholding is going way up to cover the taxes on my little windfall, but I am breathing so much easier having that there. I've learned, as so many here have, how quickly it can all fall apart from illness or job loss.

Thanks to all of you on this site for all the great support! It really helps to have a community that keeps prodding us all in the right direction.
    Donna
