new forum for suggestions
There will be some changes taking place in the upcoming months. We'd like to include feedback from the community on things you'd like to see on FV. And then we'll see what we can make happen. So anytime you have a suggestion, please feel free to use this forum to share it.
For example, maybe you have an idea for a new forum category. Some new forum topics might best fit into existing categories, but even if we don't add it, we'll have an idea of ways to shape a category to make it include a topic suggestion.
Maybe you'd like to see more of x and less of y. Tell us.
Or maybe there's a feature you'd like to see implemented. Just let us know.
Thank you.

Social groups -
Could they be made an actual sub forum? Reason I ask is the ones I am in they rarely get used. Posts to them will go for weeks or even months before someone responds.
 maybe it's a hint??Russ

Great idea SN!!
In looking over the threads recently, it seems that there have been a lot of requests for prayers. I like them being separate threads because it's easier to get any updates for the particular situation - but then - it might be nice to have them together. Just some random thoughts.
Congratulations on creating a village based in frugality and caring!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

The social groups function is a function of the vBulletin software - and frankly, I think its redundant. The forum has the ability already to have its members belong to different sub groups (as in groups with different permissions) so that based on group membership, you may or may not be able to see certain forums. Adding social groups may have been an attempt on Jelsoft's part (back when vB was still by Jelsoft) to separate permisisons out - but by hiding the discussion for the social groups, area in it's own realm it undermines the purpose of the main forum software, IMO.
What would I like to see?
Well a forum dedicated to conversations pertaining to positive assertations of my innate awesomeness, of course...
...and a budget line item on everyone's budget for "Money for Greebo, because he is awesome"... (btw my paypal address is... )
.. ok in all seriousness - dunno yet. I'll have to ponder on this one...If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

The updated vb software brings blogs and social groups a little more front and center. So they'll be featured better.

What's wrong with y?
I'd love to have a bigger chat box. I've stumbled into some pretty interesting conversations and can't scroll back to the beginning of them.

y asks too many questions
At the top left of the chatbox area where the word "ChatBox" is followed by this symbol:I'd love to have a bigger chat box. I've stumbled into some pretty interesting conversations and can't scroll back to the beginning of them.

Click that image and then select "Chatbox Archive"If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

There was another thread started by a fellow village that wanted to know if there was a way to filter out or ignore the challenge threads seeing as they do not partake in them.
I'd like to spin it the other way - would it be possible to set up a section on the main page that the user could personally select or bookmark threads that they wish to track/follow vs the subscribe to thread option. This way those specific threads are always at the top and easy to find and follow. I tried to use the subscribe option a long while back and I only got notified of someone posting in the thread vs being taken to the thread so I could read it.
Not sure how the whole message board realm works and if this is even capable...just tossing the idea out there.2012: The Year Of The Purge!

I think there is a favorites option. If you can't see it let me know. Will post about it in the question and answer section on how to use it and where it is. It's possible that it's not functionning as this is a modification I implemented 3-4 years ago. Will post link in this post when I get home.

It would be really fun to be able to use our JuJu! I think I remember reading somewhere that we'll be able to buy things with it ~ like a virtual store. Very cool! I'd like to be able to buy gifts for other members and fun stuff like that.
