Talking A VERY interesting craft sale

This was a very interesting craft sale. I've been to a number now in the 4 years we've been doing this and although this is only my 2nd one in the country, it was the MOST interesting.

It was in 2 buildings, both so small, if you turned around it would make for an interesting discussion. There were only 14 crafters. The bathroom in the building we were in had a door that didn't lock and one that had a curtain on the bathroom stall. Too funny.

Mostly older people who again love to talk and ask questions about your craft with I absolutely love. Dh and the boys sat in the van, reading and waited for us rather than having to make 2 trips.

With approximately 150 people coming through, we made $199.00 which will go into our emergency fund. With dh not working, were thankful for everything.

I did book another sale and hopefully will get another one booked tomorrow for this coming Sunday. It means lots more painting, but also more income. I sold ALL my angels and many of our Christmas ornaments.

I did have a GRRRRRRR moment though. There was a little girl running around (her mom was a teacher) and she ran into our table and broke one of our clocks. When her mom asked her what she had done, she said "nothing". Well I had 3 witnesses. I didn't say anything, but one of the ladies working in the kitchen asked me. She said, I'll talk to her. I mean, this mom didn't even come and ask what had happened nor did she even have her little girl apologize. This other lady got her on the phone and she apologized after I told her I had 3 witnesses. She asked "Do you want me to pay for it?". My comment was "I'll leave that in your ball court". We finally agreed that she pay for 1/2 of it. It was kinda funny though, these other 3 crafters beside me were so mad and some of the comments they made, well I'll leave that to your imagination!!

When the little girl came to pay me, the mom didn't even come. She sent the little girl with her grandmother. UGH!! Some people's kids!!

I know, you should see some of the kids that come into my store with their parents and the havoc they wreak! I even will sometimes say "Little Johnny, please don't mash that box, I need it to rent movies with" in a very *nice* tone of voice. Sometimes the parents will follow the lead and correct him, sometimes they won't. I'm glad that you sold all of your angels, every little bit helps.

Great job selling at a small show. I think you did really well and am so glad you are selling out of things as that way you know what the people want.

Don't know what to say about the child except "it happens". I'm glad you did get atleast half of the loss back though.

Good to hear about your successful sales. I think you were VERY nice to only make that mother pay for 1/2 the clock. I think "you break it you buy it". If the mother wanted to take her little girl to the craft show she should take responsiblity for anything the little girl damages.

Congratulations on your sales! I, too, am sorry to hear about such a rambunctious little girl...her mom should be ashamed letting her run wild like that...and definitely should have personally apologized.
