Looking for opinions here
I am looking into going into "party" business....I just can't decide which one!
I am thinking one of these but not sure....
Tupperware
Pampered Chef
Passion Parties
Party lite
theres a new one out here called Gurrlie Girls-christian jewelry but a big ($600.00) investement. A bit too much for me I think
I am also making bead jewelry to sell.
Any thoughts/opionions/suggestions are GREATLY appreciated!!

I do beaded jewelry and have a shop on etsy, that is one way to put yourself out there. I think Partylite would do good. I've been thinking about finally doing some craft shows, but not sure on that yet.

Well, I have a friend that sells Pampered Chef. She does ok, but she doesn't really promote it other than word of mouth. My Godmother sells Longaberger Baskets. She just started and I had a party (had to...she is my godmother after all and made a point of saying that quite frequently). While people did buy stuff, they didn't buy a lot and nobody booked a party. The stuff is just REALLY expensive. If the economy looked better, I think people would buy more of them, but....
So, my advice would be to look at everything. See if there is stuff in the catalogue for all consumer price ranges. I find that when I go to Pampered Chef parties, I can find something I want that is inexpensive (for example). I think that is the same with Party Lite.
Good luck. I think you can do ok if you know a lot of people and are willing to promote it a bit.

Pampered chef doesn't require that the hostess get extra bookings for the hostess to earn her gifts. However to build a business you do need to have bookings.
It's a tough time to get started. Lots aren't spending. But that doesn't mean anything. The right group and you do fantastic!

You could tell your customers at a passion party that it is a frugal investment.....your DH will want to spend a night at home instead of going out. Those parties are fun, lol.

One thing to consider is are any of those things a passion for you?
Do you love jewelry? Love to cook or bake? Love to light candles and set the mood in your home?
I think, if you really like the product, it will be much easier to sell. No matter which one you choose.
I did sell Pampered Chef for about a year and I did okay. I love to bake, make home made food for my family and have friends over for food. I love new recipes and enjoy sharing them, that comes through when you present a product. That stuff was already in my kitchen, not all of it, but plenty.
And, the ability to get more of the things I wanted for my kitchen got a lot cheaper.
So, if you're more drawn to one product line, because you like it, use it or wish you had it. That's the one you'll have the easiest time to represent.

Personally, I know that my friends and I (20somethings) would much rather spend our hard earned cash at a Passion Party than candles/tupperware/bakeware items. That's just MHO.

If you've got the chops for it, I'd do the "adult" party sales. I've been to those types of parties (both with just ladies and couples) and the sales women can make it so fun and comfortable, and they make a ton of money if they can find a good group and make them feel comfortable!

You definitely have to have a certain kind of personality to do a passion party.
I've been to a few (they were kinda trendy in my last year of university) and most of them seemed to go well. One of them was a weird, awkward flop (it was the last one we held). This particular consultant was very nice and knew the information but possibly because of the age difference, maybe she wasn't entirely comfortable with the product...I don't know, it was hard to pinpoint exactly what was different but a bit later, when we got together, someone said something along the lines of "With her, I felt like I was trying to order sex toys from my mom".
Not much in the way of sales occurred at THAT party...I want to kill my mortgage! 192,391/197,370 (since July 2011)
I'm attempting to live by the principles of The Compact in 2012. Wish me luck!
2012 Financial goals
- make an extra $15k over and above any flying pay (1705/15000)
- pay an extra $1750 off my mortgage (557/1750)
- bring EF back to $10k - $3533 left to save
- avoid lifestyle inflation
- improve investment plan (change accounts) - *grumble grumble* Bank made a mistake, need to re-do paperwork
The Financial Goals I've achieved: increased RSP contribution to $300/mth, posted budget on FV for review, saved $1600 to go on vacation
