ChaCha Guide?
Hey everyone!
I came across a at home job opportunity and wanted some feedback.
I have been looking into becoming a ChaCha guide. Basically I can sit at home and people text questions to this site and I look up the answer then respond. It seems like easy money and will work around my other job and school schedule. The only thing Im worried about is tax time and whether this second job will really help or hurt.
any feedback would be great!!

I heard you have to earn at least a hundred or they won't pay you. Also is it like 3 cents per question. I think some here have done it. Good luck.

The Expeditor position pays $.02 per answer. You have 2 choices of payment -- either once a month to paypal as long as you reach the $150.00 minimum or "pay me now" which requires you to get an account and a debit card from their bank and charges a $2 fee every time you request a payment.
Some people apparently make decent money. I did not b/c my DSL internet connection was too slow so I was making about $2-3/hr. I have found more lucrative ways to earn side money.
Also, be aware that you will get A LOT of lewd and/or disturbing questions from teenagers.

Im a generalist/specialist which means I answer questions. I get between .10-.12 cents a question. Its not tons of money but it works out to about $5 an hour (for me at least) once you get the hang of answering them efficiently. Yes you have to have $100 for a payout and you shouldnt have to worry about the tax for this year because by the time you go through the set up and acceptance process you probably wouldnt make enough for a pay out this month.

If you wanted some other ways to make money online, there are some good survey sites I use also that pay you more per hour than ChaCha. Globaltestmarket.com, opinionoutpost.com, and surveyspot.com are my favorites. I just did an online focus group tonight that took 45 min and paid $40, not typical but so cool when they come around!

If you like researching topics, then you may want to consider writing for one of the online content services such as Demand Media.
As far as taxes go, I think the only way extra income could hurt you is if it caused you to lose a major deduction or to lose some other benefit that is income based. On the other hand, since you would be using the computer and internet to earn the money, you may be able to deduct some portion of these expenses. Check with a tax adviser or a book regarding home based business taxes.
