    Question Will you have to supplement your income in 2003

    Well for sure we will and I'm looking at new ways in which to do so.

    How about you, will you be having to supplement your income in 2003?

    I started mystery shopping last summer and will continue to do that. I have several scheduled monthly assignments and I pick up some as the month progresses. I usually average $200-$250. I did make $500 in November, but I ran my behind off. Not a smart thing to do with finals and everything. Since I have 4 night classes next semester I am going to just take a few jobs a month next semester.

    I also sell a bit on ebay. Most of that money ends up getting funneled back into the clothing budget, so I really don't come out ahead there. But it is fun to see the auctions get bids.

    I'm not sure. Dh is retiring on Jan 3, 2003. But he already has an interview lined up to drive a school bus (small mini van type one) for special children around 4-5 years old.

    So with his retirement check and another job, maybe I won't have to go back to work. If I do, I do. I like being home with my katz, and most of you know how my Toby needs me, but if I have to go back to work, I will.

    Yes, I will. I have a stipend position at school that provides extra money (comptroller) and I teach piano lessons after school, so that should do it, but if need be, I'll find something else to supplement as well.

    I recently started a part time, work at home job that will bring in about $200/month. I am hoping to use it to build up our emergency reserves, as they have been recently depleted.

    I have been working part time at our library for 2 years. I am starting to look for a job with more hours and better money. I really don't want to work outside town here because it's so convenient. I can walk to work, the kids can come up when they want. Dd can work on her homework there and I can help her.
    BUT - we could really use my second professional income. My husband has been laid off a lot this last year and it's really starting to catch up.
    I wish I could get more hours at the library or find another job here in town.

    With my work schedule, I probably won't have time, but I hope to have a few yard sales this year.

    I will be picking ebay back up week after next. Thankfully, I love to paint. It's the packing/shipping and having that stuff all over my LR/DR that bothers me.

    But, that is life on earth, no?

    I love to make money anyway possible. During the year I have several things I do. In the fall and spring I aerate lawns. I can make up to a $1,000 in each season. I work a couple a days a week and only when my kids are in school at a retail shop called Teddycrafters. I then sell childrens books part-time to schools, libraries and do home book fairs(parties) for Usborne Books. I started a very small business called GrapeTs selling wholesale t-shirts dyed in wine. I also sell things on ebay and half.com. You would say I have my hands in a lot of small things, but it brings in the extra income we need to get our 4 kids playing sports...Boy, we spend a lot on sports like soccer and basketball because they don't offer these at school. I also love garage sales and selling at the flee markets.

    I don't think we have any extra time to supplement. At the moment we are doing good, so there is no need. DH works 96+ hours every 2 weeks, so he is already over-worked. I only work my 40 hours plus tend to the house and children. We are also on the Vol. fire department and run the baseball association in our town. He is president of the league. I am treasurer, and make sure all their bills are paid as well as ours. We do let our boys work concession and gate (when there are tournaments). They get paid $5 a game. It really helps out because when we go on vacation at the end of the season, they have their own money to spend on whatever they want. They also use it to buy their own school clothes. So, I guess you can count that as supplemental income because we don't buy their school clothes...they do.

    I'm working on some craft ideas for the spring craft fair, looking for more mystery shops that can be done in the evening or on the weekends, and I'm wanting to learn more about E-Bay... also, I'm going to take a bunch of toddler/baby clothes & dresses to a few of the resale shops in town, as well as any of my books that still are in good shape {between reading in a hot bath and having 2 kids, that's not many...}

    I do eBay, but I would be interested in other ideas too.

    I quite fancy having a shot at the craft area but I can't think of anything to make and sell LOL.
