Mystery Shopper?
What does a mystery shopper do? Where can I go to find more information about this?

A mystery shopper evaluates how customer service friendly a business is. You fill out a report and are paid for your time. There is a ton of info at www.volition.com . My best advice is to sign up with several companies, do a couple of shops and see how you like it. If you enjoy it, sign up everywhere you can. Some companies will contact you right away, some you may never hear from. It just depends on if they need a shopper in your area. Good Luck

I checked this web site out and there is so much information. I saved a few of the websites to my favorites but I was wondering which ones in particular have you had luck with and which ones would be a waste of time in your opinion. Thanks in advance for your help.

There are some great threads in the Supplemental Income forum if you search some of the ones from the last few months. I do work for:
Sinclair
Bestmark
Mystery Guest
National Shopping Service
Service Intelligence
and a few others.
Check out those old threads!

I have found the companies listed in the "sites to check daily" area at volition to have the most jobs in my area. You can self assign yourself to a lot of those jobs, so that is nice. Most companies post new jobs toward the end of the month or the begining of the next month. I hope this helps.

If I am not being too nosy, how do they pay? Do some pay better than others and how often do they pay?

It varies greatly. Some just pay reimbersements and some pay very well. Most pay around $10-$15 per shop. The only time I will take a reimbersement shop is if it is for something I need or want anyways. For example I will take a reimbersment for a nice restaurant, but not for say a fast food restaurant.
Some companies pay by check and others by direct deposit. A few pay through paypal, which I love. Some companies pay quickly (within a week or so) some take months. You just have to read the contractors agreement to find out when each company pays.
Some of the forms are super easy, just fill in the blank. Some are extremly long and require long narritives. Again, it just depends on the company and the client.
I'm sorry that this sounds really evasive, but it really just depends on the company and the client.
