Default How much to charge for after school childcare?

One idea I am considering to earn extra money is to provide after school childcare in my home. Does anyone know what the going rate is for this? I have no idea how much would be reasonable to charge...

When I ran my licensed family child care I charged $80 a week for before and after school care. Most families need both morning and afternoon care. It was the going rate here on base. The providers in town charge alot more.

Thanks for the input Pam! Just so you all know, I'm only interested/able in providing after school childcare. Before school/morning childcare isn't an option for us with my family's schedule...

The daycare I used to use charged me $11.00 per child per day-this was for after school (like say 3:30) until closing at 6:00. That was a few years ago. I'd say it's probably more like $15.00 now. Before that, they charged me $4.00 per hour.

My daycare provider charges me 10.oo a day no matter how long she has my ds. I'm private pay and she knows that I'm safe money...which means I always pay on time.

Most of the time she has ds before school...sometimes she has him for a half hour in the afternoon. And now and then she has him all day(snow days). For the most part she has him for a couple of hours before school.

In the long and short it evens out.

Wow! Am I lucky or what? The couple that takes care of dd charges $60/week for her and $15/WEEK for before and after school. I may consider this next year. The school bus stops at my front door!
