Does anyone clean their church?
I was approached today to see if I was interested in cleaning our church once a week. Now we have families take turns doing it month about. What needs to be done is vacumning, dusting, general tidying.
Does anyone here do this and if so, how much is reasonable to charge?
Thanks!

I use to do this years ago, but it was all on a volunteer basis. Each family in the church took a week and did the cleaning. It worked well, because we only had 2 weeks a year where we had to clean.
So I don't have a clue has to how much to charge. I guess you'll have to decide how you want to charge - so much a month, by the hour or by the week. Are there any cleaning companies around that you could phone and get a general idea how much they charge and for what.

That's a good idea, I'll call around tomorrow. I don't want to overcharge but then if it is my responsibility I don't want to undercharge.
The only thing that is kind of bothering me (and DH) is that there is always someone (sad but true) that wants things done another way and I hate confrontation. I guess to stop that a list should be made of my duties. (just thinking out loud here!

Heather, I would have a contract written up with your duties that they expect you to do and what you will do. Have them sign it, along with your signature.
Its easy to type up a contract on your computer and print it out. That way, you both know whats expected and their shouldn't be any confrontations. I'm like you, I don't like confrontations either.

I clean my church too, but just on a volunteer basis. I just finished my "turn". March was my month, I cleaned once per week. I was responsible for the downstairs, which includes a kitchen, 2 bathrooms, a nursery, a few classrooms, etc. It's a big area, but I finally got it down to a science-lol. There are enough people that I only have to do it 2 months per year.

We are doing it on a volunteer basis now but they are wanting to pay someone as the majority of the members are older and are not able to and in all fairness they shouldn't have to. We would take month about. LOL Danielle, it's true isn't it, you figure out what has to be done and the most efficient way pretty quick!!

My dh and I clean our church. We're paid $100 per week. It's a relatively small buiding ( about 10,000 sq. ft.) It's a great idea to get a list of your duties. We did that first thing. Ocassionaly, we have people, besides our boss, try to tell us what to do. It does get annoying, but I guess it goes with the territory. Overall, I'm glad we have this job. We've been doing this for several years, and I hope to continue for many more. Good luck!!
