    Talking mompreneurs roll call

Hi Everyone!! I have noticed, while reading threads here, that there are a lot of us "mompreneurs". I have seen ladies starting their own businesses and some becomming Independant Sales/Demonstrators.

(I am also an independant Demonstrator. I have not had very much luck at all...yet. I have faith it'll pick up shortly )

I thought it might be fun (and helpful) to have a "roll call" of mompreneurs to give us a chance to help each other "get in gear" or to get each other motivated. I have a serious lack of self confidence, and need to work on that if I ever want to get my demonstratorship off the ground. I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I thought we would be able to help each other along by sharing our stories.

I also think it might be fun to do a "what have you done this week to boost your business?" thread. Sometimes seeing our tasks done (and posted) shows us that we ARE getting somewhere. Even doing the little things can sometimes make a huge difference. And the things we do, others can do or adapt to help their fledgling businesses as well.

So what do you say?? Anyone else want to join me and get a thread going?? I'll start

I am a new Independant Demonstrator with Stampin'Up!. So far I have two customers, my mom and my best friend. I know that it'll pick up in time, hopefully sooner than later. So far this week I have invited people to a workshop/open house that I will be holding on 9 August. And I have made up a few little Hostess gifts/ booking inscentives.

    How about you??

Don't forget the Village Square, where you can post a wahm's ad, with pics of your products!!!

I'll go next. I have a biz of doing patchwork clothing and bags which I have put on the back burneer while sales are down and I am working on my baby boutique Swingin' From a Star I am licensed to make HoneyBoy!™ Diapers and CuddleBuns™ Diapers.
I am also doing designer diaper bags and closer to Christmas I will be offering more gift type items. Chenille blankets and bibs and things. This week I have been working on my website and sewing to get a stock open. I am in hopes of opening my website on August 15. This is a good idea for a thread.

Great idea for a thread Melissa.

I guess you would call us more "familypreneurs" rather than Mom preneurs, although I play a huge part in our business.

Right now, dh is making clocks and lots of them and I do all the sanding and staining. I also do all the book work and ordering of parts and I pick out the wood. I also pick out the patterns that we want to get done and I book all the craft sales.

Were starting to get into our Christmas mode, although were behind again. I struggle with doing things during the summer months, but we'll be doing a few extra craft sales this year, so I've got to get into getting more done.

Home businesses take a lot of work. One thing I need to say is don't get discouraged. Keep working at it. Even if its small to begin with, take each new day as a challenge. Set some goals and work to reach them. It will eventually fall into place if we work hard and keep at it.

Just became a Pure Romance consultant, it is party sales of lotions-bodyware-adult toys-sensual aids-novelties & gifts.

I haven't had a party yet but I have had a few orders from cataloges and cards I have left around so I think it will do very well.

Great idea Melissa! I'm an Independent Herbalife Distributor who needs some motivation. I have a few regular customers, but I need to work on builing a bigger base. I have more ideas than time! Challenging myself to do one business building activity a week should help a lot!

Cool! You all sound like you have some good and sound businesses going.

I just can't seem to get started.........

CJ, make sure you make lots of the angel and star ornaments to sell. I know they will do well again. I can't wait to put mine on my tree this year. They are so special to me.

Made a product list for my website and worked up a product cost chart per item. This will help when deciding the cost of my items and I have started a price book with the items I use.

I recently started with Natural Bodycare and Highlights-Jigsaw. Its slow going right now with both companies, but I've been doing a lot of reading and getting great tips from everyone.

My website is ready to be stocked! It is so cute I just love it. I contacted a person about wholesaling to them and sent them a pricelist and I made 1 diaper bag today.

Today I got my copy of the company's catalog rebound, bound a little "workshop notes" booklet for myself. (i had written key points on a few 4x6 index cards, so i wouldn't forget some special points) so to keep them in order and easily accessable, i had the note cards bound. I have over used the catalog, and the pages were comming out, so i had the glue binding cut off and they rebinded it useing spiral binding. I also got a container (a portable file box) with a handle and lots of room for carrying supplies to parties and and keeping stuff in. Makes a big difference in the stuff i had laying around.

http://www.officedepot.com/ddSKU.do?...5009_SK_204811 This is the one I got.

I am so dissappointed, noone is comming to the open house I was going to have this Saturday, so far at least.
