I'm just itching to do something!
I'm always trying to brainstorm something that I can sell. I sometimes imagine myself being this super savy business woman ...but here I sit barefoot, not showered...and the only thing on my to do list is dishes and housecleaning

I keep thinking I would love to sell something that I can produce right here in my own home...have a nice website for it....maybe something crafty but useful at the same time (favors/cards/gift baskets) etc...
It just feels like there is this creative/busy/driven woman inside me rearing to get out!
I just need to think of what it is I would want to do
How did you gals who have a homebusiness decide what you wanted to do?

I found what I love to do, and what I am good at....for me scrapping and stampin. Luckily for me there was a company that does it in a home party type plan. But before that I sold occassionally things I had made.
I think it is important to find what you love, what makes you happy....

I have to agree with Melissa. Find something you really enjoy doing it and then sell that. If its a craft that you really like doing, do it. If your into make-up, that kind os stuff, sell Avon or the likes. (Those are only a couple of examples.) Its about enjoying what your doing, not about making a ton of money (although that kinda helps).
I think its like anything Heather, if your doing something you really don't like doing, I don't think you'll ever truly be successful at it. You won't have the get up and go like you would if its truly something you love.
Good luck and keep us posted as to what your plans are.

I was making simple patchwork purses and somone asked me too do a skirt and walah next thing I knew I was doing shirts dresses pants and everything. I have been making fitted cloth diapers but I really dont enjoy it the way I do patchwork clothing. I cant be as creative with a diaper so I consider patchwork clothing my true calling.

I love clothes, fitness, and I really love monotonous work (so assembling lots of the same thing would be fun for me) I love making things pretty....
My husband suggested a couple ideas...one was making guitar picks out of abalone...not sure how i would get the abalone or cut it out...but that sounded neat!
He also suggested designing/making a line of underwear which is actually something i've thought about before...it seems like something easy enough to make...and I've always wanted to design clothing...
I thought about trying to see how to become a power seller (?) on ebay where they get the overstock from companies like victorias secret...
I would perhaps enjoy doing a line of cards...lately looking at the card section everything seems so cliche/cheesy...I could be like caroline in the City
(anyone remember that show?)
I thought about creating journals ...the kind where you fill out info... like a baby book..
I even thought about doing a fitness video. complete with meal plans and everything...only knowone knows me like they would know cindy crawford or other people like that
I thought about creating gift sets "for the man (or woman) who has everything"
These are some of the idea's I've been tossing around lately...

*I'D* buy your fitness video!! (Who's Cindy Crawford?!
)
I wanted to do something too, but as Melissa has pointed out, I wanted to do something I had a passion for....something other than M&Ms!! (when I worked in the M&M factory, they fired me for throwing out all of the W's....)
I love to take pictures & show them off! My family is my favorite group of victims - er - subjects....so I became a Creative Moments consultant....
I envy you though - wanting to do something of your very own....not be a consultant for someone who's already established their business....then you have the satisfaction of knowing that your product has taken off because of you! My client base is mine alone, but most folks in my area already know about CM.....
(I'd buy the "Heather's Secret" panties too!!
)

My friend Iwalani took her passions and made it into a huge business. She designs, manufactures and markets Pualani Hawaii swimwear. Check out her website:

That girl just inspires the heck out of me!!! And to think that she and I used to torture her older brothers by letting the baby guinea pigs out in the spare room downstairs so that they would have to find them!
Hey, we were 3 years old then!

Oh Michelle, yes I would love to still do that, but I was planning on my first wedding to plan being my sisters (to get started for a feel of it)...and she isn't even engaged yet
I was going to use her wedding to build my portforlio, assuming everything goes well
Lordy she better not stay single forever! Nah, but in that case I would just try to help out anyone else I know for free with their wedding...I was thinking that that might also help me get references? I'm not sure how ethical that would be...to sort of advertise through her wedding to the other guests? Just a little note on a brochure that I coordinated it etc...
Debbie you just keep cracking me up!
I bet those W's were just as tasty too

I've been where you're at for years Heather and I'm still not convinced I'm out of it, it's so frustrating.
I often have ideas about what I REALLY want to do and then when I'm doing it I don't want to anymore!
I'm a qualified hairdresser, nail tech, beautician. I've sold tupperware, Ann Summers, Pippa Dee, Avon. I've made candles, decorated denim, plaster wall decorations, the list just goes on and on AND ON!
I get easily bored LOL.
I'm making cards because I can do it at home with the kids, it was cheap start up costs, I have orders, and although I'm always making cards each one is different so I don't get so easily bored. But who knows how long it will last
I don't trust myself
I believe it is important to do something you love or it won't last, but my problem is knowing what I love
I've spent years changing my mind and wasted alot of money too but I guess I'm hundreds of things closer to knowing what I don't want LOL
I wish you only the best - you'll never know until you start looking and you might just crack it and make millions. Have lots of fun!

I think an ebay store would be fun. I think you should just pick something and try it. Some ideas are wedding consultant, kid's party planner, (give tea parties for little girls, that sort of thing).
Sell Discovery Toys or Avon or any number of other things. When you are an independent sales consultant for these companies, you really are self employed, you take care of all your own taxes (with many good deductions, like milage, etc.) set your own hours, work as much or as little as you want. Good luck to you!

Heather. I still don't know what I wanna "do when I grow up" either. I sell Longaberger baskets, which I love, but it would be so cool to sell something I made with my own hands. Unfortuneately I can't with the kids and our place. Good luck to you on your search.
