Lightbulb Now, this is a novel way to gain an income!

I found out today that our local pet store may well be interested in purchasing cuttlefish.

So I went down to our local beach with our daughter and found a fair bit. Tomorrow, I'll take the cuttlefish to the pet store, and let you know how I did.

Apparently, in yet another of God's great coincidences (!), the one person who was on the beach and asked what was in my bucket, has a husband who used to do the same thing, but he would store it all until he had enough to take to our capital city, Melbourne, and offload there. It was worth his while, she said, but he stopped because there was just too much going on in his life. Wahoo!

I'd love to know as well. What are they used for? Are they easy to find?

Here is a link to info on what a cuttlefish is:

I was raised eating dried cuttlefish in Hawaii and even have some in my pantry right now.

    Talking Rats! Temporarily, I hope!

Well, Ladies, cuttlefish in the pet sense are the white, oval, slightly ridged, sharp-pointed ended, bony bits of squid and cuttlefish.

They're the beak sharpeners you see used in parrakeet (budgerigar) cages. Helps keep that lovely beak in razor condition so that the next time you pay unwelcome attention to your feathered friend, you take a hint. Usually written in blood. Yours. lol

Anyway, I took about a 1/4 of a wallpaper paste white bucket to my chap at the Pet Shop, he gave me a brief word of thanks, and that was it. Where's the moola? Oh, well.

He had to dash off, so I told the young lady there what the lady on the beach had told me. We'll leave things there for the time being. It costs me in fuel and time to go to Killarney, and I'm not doing it to give away cuttlefish.

So I may just stockpile and see how I go. I could do with a good weekend away in Melbourne, anyway. It is the capital of our state of Victoria, so there you go.

Honestly, people who nick your stuff are lower than a snake's armpit. Sorry, Lord.

    Whoops.
