I'm Going to Deliver Phone Books!!!! UPDATE!
Dh's boss had a "IN" with the guy who contracts with the phone company to deliver phone books. He recommend me for the job after asking if I wanted to do it.
I go for my appointment this afternoon and to watch a video and do orientation. I hope I can hold a thought long enough to get through it.
It's supposed to last about 3 weeks. Won't find out definite details till today but the pay will be between .15 and .20 cent per book and they pay an auto allowance and it is all cash! You also get a bonous if you deliver over your quota. So if I deliver 5000 phone books and they only paid .15 cents a book then I would make $750.00 plus my gas! You just toss them out the car window. You don't even have to get out and you toss them near their mail box.
I hope my car will hold up and that I can do this without hurting my shoulder or my back.
I understand it is pretty hard work but I've just got to try it."Success on any major scale requires you to accept responsibity."

I have done that for about 5 years, but be careful how you throw them oput the window; people will call and complain it the book gets wrinkled, wet or anything else you can think of.

I WAS MISLED(SP)!!!
Well not really misled according to past years but this is a new marketing company that is doing the phone books this year.
Seems the ones in the past that did the delivery were doing it all wrong and illegally. You are not allowed to put phone books near or in mail boxes or it is a $300.00 fine!
So, here's the ACTUAL details....
I have to deliver atleast 500 phone books within 3 days. All business' have to sign for the book. Each book goes to a specific address only and must be left at the hinged side of their front door. It pays $189.00 approx. for 500 books and you get about $46.00 for gas for these 500 books. Each book has to be placed in a plastic bag. Pay averages about .55 cents per book and supposedly you can get bounous' and extra money if you stick it out through the 3 weeks.
So I will give this a try and do the first 500. Dh said he will help me on Saturday if I can't get it done even though it says (no one can help you.)
I did get my first route right next to my neigborhood so I'm familiar with it.

my wife helped me with the phone books, sometimes getting the business' to sign was a hassel, but it was worth the money. Good luck.
