    Default Musical Income...

When we moved here, both hubbs and I retired.
I used to work as a floral designer and I could have gotten work here, but didn' want to work holidays any more.
Soooo, I took advantage of my musical training and when they needed another musician for Saturday evening at our church, I took the job.
The mission church affiliated with us also needed an organist once a month on Sunday, so I go there also.I sometimes fill in at another area church when the organist/pianist is on vacation.
What I make really helps out at Christmas and for "extra" items we need. I also use it to help pay for my "rubber stamping"addiction!

Diana, you are blessed to be able to use your talent.

I too am a church musician (not paid though) I sing on our worship team. I also sing in the choir.

    Thanks ladies!

I agree, we are expected to put to use the talent we are given.
Was always in the choir too, except now that I play on Sat. I have to be cantor AND organist/pianist. Hubby helps me though and in summer we have a couple more people singing.
The choir sings on Sunday here.
Chriss, so nice to meet another "songbird" as my hubby says! Do you play organ? I was trained in piano. We have a large organ and a great electronic keyboard with organ and all sorts of other instrumentental sounds, so I mostly play that. I LOVE the chimes for Christmas!

    Diana,
That's so great to hear! I teach piano lessons after school. (I teach 8th grade social studies during the day.) I really enjoy using my music in this way.

Then, a few months ago, they told me they needed a new musical director for the spring musical. It's a paid extra job, so I took it!

Just like you, I'm trained in piano and voice.

Diana, I took piano briefly when I was young and now I play just for me. I hope to take some more lessons soon. My background is instrumental. I play alto saxophone and flute. I also play recorder (descant and alto) and I have taught some recorder.

I am also trying to learn to play the "Highland Hornpipe" which is a chanter from the Great Highland Bagpipes with a saxophone mouthpiece and reed.

Vocals are relatively new for me. I love to sing though.

    Default WTG Amy!

that extra cash always comes it handy.
It's great to see so many talented people here!

Chriss, very cool! I play a little recorder and guitar. Was always fascinated by the mountain instruments. Once heard some folk singers at one of the national parks, that's the first time I had seen someone play a dulcimer and the recorder. I thought it was so beautiful that I went out, bought a recorder and taught myself. Not very good at it, but love the sound.
