ebay rant!
It really angers me. They are so huge. They get new people on there everyday. Then there's these idiots that sign up just to get attention and to sell adverising on there foreheads or pregnant bellies. What do you suppose the fees for that are? Don't you think if you or I tried it our auctions would be closed down as attempting to sell body parts, thus against ebay regulations? They have got to have more money that they know what to
do with and they want MORE! They could make TONS selling ebay logo junk (at reasonable prices), but NO! They want to do it at the seller's expense. All they are doing is driving sellers away. As far as I'm concerned those people can just peddle their body parts to someone else.
As soon as this fee increase takes place, IF I LIST ANYTHING AT ALL, they will get anywhere from 25% to 43% of the selling price in fees! That's NUTS!
Now my ebay/PayPal rant:
I got such a polite email from ebay a while back accusing me of search manipulation because I indicated that I accept and prefer PayPal payments! Well, they're just ticked because I refuse to upgrade my pp account and pay 30¢ + 2.9% on EVERY transaction! C'mon, they're already getting darn near 1/2 of MY money anyway! You see, the only pp button they have pictures credit cards. Since I will not accept cc payments, they won't let me say I accept pp!?
OK, better now.
I would like to encourage anyone who sells on ebay to check out www.bidville.com These people are happy to have us and appreciate feedback and suggestions. THERE ARE NO LISTING FEES and you can open a store for $5/month. Think about it. You can keep everything you have listed and it won't cost you a single red cent until that item sells! Here's the FSF (Final Success Fee) schedule:
Sale Price FSF
$0.01-$25.00 5%
$25.01-$1000.00 $1.25 + 2.5% of amount over $25.00
Selling an item for 99¢(BIN) on ebay will cost you 43¢, on BidVille it's only 5¢!
I'm not trying to sell you anything. I'm just suggesting you check it out. It's different from ebay. There's a community board with lots of great folks (some very experienced ex-ebay powersellers) who are thrilled to help a newbie out. If you do decide to sign up, though, you could tell them Peacecat referred you.
(I'm trying to get away from that dz_blonde image, lol)
There's TONS of great stuff for sale too, btw.
Thanks for listening.

Bidville may be fine but it doesn't get the traffic that Feebay does. I'm hoping Overstock will take off. I saw an advertisement for them last night on television.

Thanks for the link. I too have had it up to here with ebays fees. trouble is all these other sites just don't have the traffic to get bidding wars up. The other trouble is that ebay knows it. Between shipping fees going up and ebay and paypal fees listin gon ebay for extra income has become near impossible.

I'll have to check out bidville- I'd never heard of it. That $5 store is appealing, though.
Maybe we should all put our heads together and get more traffic to the FV mall & auctions... we KNOW the people here are honest and friendly!

And as long as everyone stays with ebay they'll still have all the traffic. It's time to go elsewhere! It doesn't matter to me where.Originally posted by mommy2many

Oh man, the FV auctions are empty again
I wish we had the power to attract buyers there. It would be much easier to get buyers to a site that already had a large assortment of goods for sale. The powers that be at Bidille have said they were planning some multi-media advertisments. Meanwhile the sellers are working on promoting their corner of the site, at least. I think we all know how to copy/paste and image, then print it on transfer paper to iron on a T-shirt. Add your store URL, wear it to the mall..... How bad do you want it?

I'm going to be checking the other sites out. I'd been considering doing some heavy-duty selling at ebay in the next few months, but really hate turning over all those fees.Originally posted by dz_blonde_girl

My dh wants to start selling. I'm gonna give him this. He plans on doing all auctions. Not limiting himself.
Thanks Karen!

I agree, I want to go elsewhere...but ebay gets the traffic...Since listing on bidville is free, I will probably try that next...and encourage others to do the same.
Ebay is becoming fee bay!! YUCK!!!

On bidville, do they show the shipping charges? I just looked over about a dozen auctions -- and I didn't see the shipping fees on ANY of them.

A better bet over Feebay LOL
There is a new auction site launching mid to late Feb. www.wagglepop.com
I heard about it from an ebay moms group I used to belong to. So far a ton of the powersellers have already closed their stores...I saw a link someplace about thousands keep on closing them...the numbers go down every month. Ebay stock prices kept going down too.
I think its finally the beginning of the end. They got to big for their britches...too greedy and not smart enough to say when enough is enough. They care more for the big corporations than the little people like us where they got their start. They've bought Paypal (so if you keep using that...you are still supporting the bay)....they also just bought rent.com. I've also read about them doing Ebay China! Which is going to kill off even more of the more low level sellers.
Well-hope this link helps...I have no clue when the launch day is...just that I am planning to be there from day one!
