I used to sell Avon, Watkins and Regal (all at different times). I really enjoyed it but I never made any money at it.

I have a friend who is a District Sales Manager, that's how I got into it. There should be someone in your area that can sign you up. It costs $5.

I did sell Avon, Pampered Chef, Tupperware, and Homemaker's Idea (Home decor). I ALWAYS ended up spending more money than I made. I admit, there is not much risk in checking out the Avon opportunity. Some people do very well with it. I just do not know enough people, and it seems like everyone I tried to sell to had a friend or family member that they were already buying Avon from.

So far for only one time, and only two days to get orders, I made 25.00. I have good impulse control about buying stuff! So, I don't spend too much! Only the necessities.

I sold avon for 3 years, made presidents club every year, which means I sold (retail) more than $10,000. I never made a profit. Not because I bought stuff...because I didn't. But you have to buy books, samples, bags, and other things. Also, due to the fact that there are so many Avon ladies, and Avon now on the internet, trying to keep customers was hard. You always had competition, and other ladies would give discounts, so I had to too! If you sell at the Presidents club level, you get 40% of the money you collect. If you sell $300.00, you keep $120.00, minus samples ( usually cost me about $20.00 a campaign because customers EXPECT THEM), bags cost about $3.00 a campaign, The service charge per sale ( was $1.00 when I quit, but I heard it has gone up) and books, which costs me almost $30.00. Then the cost of gas for driving everywhere for delivery cost me $15.00 to $20.00 a week. ..Take all those things into consideration, and I was bring home less then $50.00 a campaign, which was $25.00 a week. Plus the costs of returns!! Avon expects you to accept returns for any reason, and you have to send them back, the shipping at your expense. Plus the cost of bounced checks ( yes, you will get those, even from people you trust)
It was ALOT of work, for a very small to no income. I loved my customers, and the people on my team ( I was a unit leader), but after 3 years of taking a loss on my taxes, it was not worth it.
I don't want to sound negative, just want you to know all the things you have to do. If you just sell for the fun of selling, and getting some things at a discount, then it might be okay for you. I found that I can buy nice bubble bath, lotions and other stuff, at the dollar store, spend alot less and not try to talk my friends into buying stuff from me. I felt bad having to push people into buying because after a while, in order to keep selling, you have to keep going back to the same customers.
Good Luck with Avon, for some people it's great...but it didn't work for me. $25.00 to $35.00 a week, which I usually used up in mileage, wasn't worth the work!!!

Sold tupperware, made $ but not a lot, and got LOTS of product. Sold "adult toys" made $ but not a lot, Had to keep inventory and I just did not like that. Now I am a new PartyLite consultant (no inventory) we will see how that goes, I usually make money but get fed up with the people, at meetings, or just pressuring me to do more and more.
We will see how this goes. I LOVE the product, and there system seems really good, how ordering and delivery are taken care of so should be good.

Just wanted to warn you, I just got an internet relay call from someone wanting to order products in the us to resale in their own credit but only wanted to use credit card. The supervisor got on the phone and said they suspected it to be an attempt at credit card fraud. I suggested money order or cashiers check but they refused. Be careful!!

I used to sell AVON but always spent more than I made. Now I sell Close to My Heart scrapbooking and subber stamping supplies. I have a good little base business, but I still spend more than I make. With 2 small ones I just can't do the gatherings and workshops like I would like. Once they are older I will do more with it. Right now it just helps me get what I need at a 30% discount.
