Talking We Did Well On The Auction!

It's been so busy around here with the robberies, the auction, ds's shenanagens and being sick so I havne't gotten to update you on the auction.

We got a check for $1067.00!!!! We had one new garage door installed this week, replaced dh's drill that was stolen in November and bought more security sensor lights for the garages.

Some of the stuff went really cheap but lots of things sold for more that expected. I had 6 old pepsi bottles and a metal carrying case. Only one bottle was one of the red dot ones and on ebay the sets were going for around $17.00 a set. Ours sold for $70.00! I even got about $35.00 for some rocks, lol.

We have some more stuff going into another auction in a few weeks so I'm anxious to see how it goes. It's not only helping with getting our home repaired but is also making great progress in decluttering.

Can you tell us how you found out about auctioning? Is it online or brick and mortar place? What kinds of things can be auctioned where you go? I am reallly interested.

Way to go on your auctions BTW. that's fantastic!

Missy, it was a local Auction house. A man opened it up as a business here about 3 years ago. He charges 35% of all sales. He picks up items at your house and cleans them if needed. This is here in Pahrump, Nevada. I think Las Vegas has one or two of these business' also. You could check your local yellow pages or the newspaper and see if anything is available in your area. 35% really is too much but we live too remote for a good yardsale and lots of the stuff was just too heavy for trying to sell on ebay. Plus we figured it would cost $15.00 to place an add in the local paper. If it didn't sell that week then we would have to pay another $15.00 to list it again so we weren't spending any more than that by auctioning off.

Thanks everyone! It was so exciting to be able to get things that we needed.

Hopeing to get enough out of the other sales to buy another garage door that is damaged beyond repair. These doors didn't even open! The one we replaced this week was being help up with a stick, LOL. They are not cheap. They are $670.00 each!

Sure could have used the money for other stuff but we had to do the repairs.
