Question Declare ebay sales as income?

To those of you who sell on ebay, how do you declare the income? or do you? I haven't listed anything yet but I have some items I would like to sell and wondered about the tax situation.

    Thanks in advance,
    Patti

I was told by my tax person that as long as i didn't make more money off the items than i paid for them then I didn't need to claim the income. Say you paid $40 for a shirt then after wearing it for a few times you decided to sell it on eBay and got $9 for it you acutally lost $31. But I don't know if this is "right" just what I have been going by.

i plan to start selling on ebay too. my tax preparer also does this as well for income. she said that the safest way to file your taxes would be quarterly.

We've never claimed anything that we sold on there. I don't know of anyone that does.

i know of people who don't. i believe that you can make $400 a yr before you actually have to report it. just to be safe, i'd rather talk to someone who knows about taxes...it would just be my dumb luck that i would get in trouble for not filing.
