Default another avenue of self employment

do any of you do crafts? i'm not just talking about crafts shows or farmer's markets. i'm talking about freelance craft designing. craft magazines are willing to pay you for your original craft patterns. after taking an 8 yr break, i'm going back to it. i design crochet patterns..and depending on the pattern ,you can earn $25-$300 for each one that the magazines accept. i've done work for annie's attic, crochet digest & crafts n' things. the prices that i stated were from 8 yrs ago..they may be paying more now.

I've not freelanced crochet or my floral designs for magazines, but I did freelance my floral designs for residential and commercial accounts (convention center, hotels, and local businesses)

I created a home party business as a sideline featuring my designs, as well.

I am a member of crochet partners and many of the women there have sold their patterns. I think it's great!

I'm not as advanced in crochet to tackle that, but I think it's wonderful.

I have my own business designing knitting and crochet patterns, teaching and doing custom work, including repairing and restoring heritage crochet. My goal is to publish my own line of patterns and yarn on my web site. I am hoping to get some patterns into the magazines and to freelance for some of the big yarn and pattern companies next year. I've just been too busy with other stuff this year! I do find that teaching is the best pay wise right now and it is upfront. I don't have to go through the "rejection" process.
