Default what do you think of this business venture

Along with my VA business I am thinking about offering a welcoming service for the town and surrounding areas that Malcom and I are moving to. I would contact the different businesses in the area and provide welcome packets to new residents of the town - the packets would contain BIGI type coupons and much more.

I am also thinking about contacting the real estate companies in the area and offering a service for me to handle turning on/off or transfering utilites for new homeowners. I know that our real estate company offered this service to us when we bought and sold our home to me and Malcom and it was such a relief not to have to worry with something like that along with packing, etc. I would need to find out all the legal stuff associated with this.

What do you think of these ideas? Is this something that you would want - why or why not? Thanks ladies.....I'm going to get back to brainstorming!!

P.S. My motivation.......the thought of having to work for my mother-in-law....this would get anyone motivated to jump start a business!!!

I think they both sound like good ideas Daphne. I've often wished our local area offered the welcome packets.

Both sound like great ideas to me!

I like to put together welcome to the neighborhood packets for new neighbors, and this runs along the same lines. I like to include phone numbers of a variety of local resturaunts (and their delivery numbers) map of the general area including local supermarkets, car repair, utility offices, library, etc etc, (I find maps online) So that kind of idea might work in welcome packets.

Best of luck in your new business venture. I know you'll do great!

I love the welcome packets idea. I think anyone relocating would enjoy that service.

It might be fun to add an editorial section, too-- such as "my family thinks XYZ has the best pizza, but our neighbors like QRS better.... which do you prefer?"

I think both ideas are great Daphne! I would love to get a welcome packet if I moved somewhere new and also would love to have someone else deal with the utility companies...that is always my job when we've moved in the past and I hate it!

I think both ideas are great Daphne. I would love to receive a welcome packet if I were to move to a new area. I also hate to bother with the utilities while trying to move...another great idea!

I also like it, I like the other posters idea of the editorial idea as well. How much were you thinking of selling them for?
