I need your help to convince me...
...to sell my vintage lucite purse.
We are desperately in need of money right now. (See my Murphy thread for more details.) I really don't want to sell my lucite purse, but if I did, I could make some fairly decent money.
I have been tempted to sell it before- it was something I found in the attic of our old aparmnt, and I have it on display in our family room. It isn't anything sentimental, but I love it.
Convince me that it will be okay to sell it. Please.

How much would you sell it for?

Haven't read the other post yet. Since it's not a sentimental thing I'd sell it, you may find one later when you have some extra money to spend.

I'm not sure how much I would sell it for- I would probably put it on eBay. It doesn't have a makers mark, so I would say it would be under $100. I need to do more research before I know if it is worth it.

You could put it on Ebay and put a reserve. That way you get the money you think it would make it worth your selling.
If you need the money, and there's no emotional attachment to the purse, I say go for it.

Sara- yes, and yes.
It is marbleized charcoal grey. The front and back are just marbleized, but the sides/bottom have a little sparkle to them. The top is clear with a diamond/floral design. It is in good condition, no cracks, and the metal findings are in good shape. The handle is a little smoky (yellowish) and honestly, it could be that way on purpose, since the clear top shows no signs of yellowing.
Well, it is easier just to show you.

I'm probably not going to be much help, Kimber, but you know me, I have to say my bit.
If it were me, I wouldn't sell anything I loved. I would regret it. On the other hand, maybe you found it for a reason. And the reason is... only you know.
I told you I wouldn't be of help. I hope you work it out.

I won't be any help either. I think you should do what you feel is right for you.
Good luck in whatever you decide.~*Michelle*~

That is lovely. I agree with Rhonda - I wouldn't sell anything I truly loved even if it doesn't have sentimental attachments. Sometimes those little things we love make us who we are.

They did a thing about early plastic and bakelite on the Antiques Road Show, PBS, awhile back. As I recall, the purses ranged from $100.00 to $300.00. That's a very nice one. Do some research, like mentioned above.
There may be something on the:
ruby tuesday site???
If you look at sites to buy purses, you'll get an idea...
Good luck

I guess it depends on how badly you need the money too. I've sold tons of things I loved when I needed to and don't regret it. It had to be done.
I just wouldn't let it go for something like $30 or something like that though. Then you'd always remember that you let go of something you loved for so little.
If you search on ebay, there are tons of lucite purses. Is it something you could sell now and then buy another you like later?
