Exclamation ALERT!!! If you sell on eBay & have a Paypal account!!

A bit annoying for the casual seller, IMO.

I wonder if eBay is cutting off it's nose to spite it's face? It seems like this is going to make sellers even more irritated with eBay and make them want to seek out other auction sites to use.

I think they are regulating themselves out of business.

Wow, that is annoying - good thing we only sell stuff through DH's account he already had to upgrade his paypal account (we did sold much stuff when we moved that he had to upgrade to get around the receiving limits).

    What a pita.
I hate Ebay. It was already a major hassle to deal with. I think they would be MUCH better if they
    a) operated their payments the same way half.com does...that is, be the middle man and MAKE SURE sellers get their money (and also make it easier for buyers to get a refund)

    b) if they are going to force sellers to accept all forms of paypal, they need to pass that 'fee' that Paypal charges onto the buyer. It's totally not fair for sellers to have to pay to get their money, when they already pay outrageous Ebay fees to begin with.

Definitely. I can't believe that with a premier account, one needs to pay even when receiving cash. That's so wrong.

What's the big deal! It's not that much extra money. I've accepted all payments for years. It's quite normal to have to pay a fee when someone pays with a credit card; all stores have to pay fees when we use credit cards. It's totally normal. Plus, if you check around, Paypal is still cheaper and more convenient than other merchant accounts. If you don't want to pay anything, try bidpay, they don't charge a fee.

Paypal didn't use to charge a fee. Then, once we all started use paypal, they started charging. If you want to save money on the fees, then use your paypal card as a credit card.
When you make a purchase, say at the grocery store, gas station, post office etc... Use the card, then paypal will credit you with 1.5%. So, basically you're saving about 1/2 of the fees.

Ebay is still the best, cheapest marketplace I've found. When you think about the amount of people that have access to ebay and know about ebay, it's really a good deal. I've tried other auction sites, and wasn't impressed. If you have one that is working for you, let me know.

I agree with you Michelle. I quit selling on ebay because you can barely make a profit anymore after paying all the fees to them and paypal.

Shannon, I think people are upset because it's not like Ebay is offering more for their increased fees. They just keep taking and taking, and it makes it hard for sellers to make money.

That said, I will probably continue to sell there until I find something better.
