Default Anyone rent flea market booths?

We went to a fairly new flea mall yesterday (it's in a old.. pre supercenter Wal-Mart building lol) and Steve said I should try it. I have enough stuff to start it and I can do yard sales and thrift stores to find more items to put in.

Do you know if they (most) charge by the month or if you pay a monthly fee plus commission? I need to call and get all the details, but I am seriously considering it.

They have over 400 booths, open 7 days from 10-6pm...Do you think I should try it? I am a little afraid I wont make enough money to cover my booth and items I buy etc...

We spent 3½ hours in there yesterday

Did you check out prices and what people are selling? If you think you can match their prices and if you believe you've got saleable products, go for it. Over here you pay a flat rate for a flea market stall, it's generally $20 - $50 depending on the size of the venue and the number of people it draws.

DH and I will probably do a monthly stall when we sell our store.

All of the flea markets I've been involved with have also just charged a flat fee.

I've sold at outdoor flea markets and also indoor booths. They are all different. Some charge a monthly flat fee and some cover the sales tax for you. Just make sure what their requirements are as far as sales tax. Some you are in a co-op and work your designated hours and others you have to be at your booth. Some allow you to not even be at your booth at all.

I enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun. Wishing you success if you decide to take the plunge.

Get all the details first before you commit and also find out if there is a fee if you close your booth and don't give them 30 days notice. I think here for an inside booth it runs $20 to $50 depending on your size of booth and they also tend to take commission for selling since you aren't there. Outside tables at flea markets here are generally $10.00 and you have to bring you own tables.

Good luck. Lots of people do make money in them.

Well, these people must be price gauging (sp) A 8X10 space is $110/month plus 5% commission. It's a month to month rental,no contract, they just request a 2 week notice before you move out.
    There's a waiting list....I'm number 232

The lady I spoke to yesterday said it shouldn't be but around 2 months before I get in....we'll see!

We were there yesterday...I love that place lol I like old, country, primitive, type stuff and I could spend allday in there

I got an old metal basket with "leaves" on the side..pretty good size for $7,a small old crock for $2,and a bigger crock for $4 ...I washed it and put all my cooking utensils in it and its sitting on my counter
