    Default eBayers - shipping question

Do you charge actual shipping or do you post a flat rate? Do you charge a handling fee?

I have a postal scale that I weigh the package with and then go to the USPS web site and put in the weight and the zip that it is going to and then I usually add a dollar or two extra depending on where it is going and how much it weighs as the web site tends to be off sometimes.
But if I go over on the shipping charges by $3.00 I will reimburse the buyer...I hate getting ripped off on shipping charges.

We typically charge actual shipping (give or take a few dollars for packing). If it's something that we have the buy it now option on then Joe usually won't charge for shipping if they do it that way because he knows he will be getting what he wants for the item.

We try to charge actual shipping. We never charge handling fees. For light things (like coupons) we sell them with free shipping because it's just the price of a stamp and people like to see FREE SHIPPING!

We always do actual shipping or as close to it as possible.

I try to estimate actual shipping, then give myself about .50-$1.00 extra as a buffer. I weigh the object and probable packaging, then put in two different destination zip codes: one in-state, and one on the other side of the country. Whichever is higher, I add .50-1.00 to that and make that the shipping cost, usually. Other times I do actual cost. All my packaging materials are recycled, so they don't cost me anything.

I don't like getting overcharged when I buy- it really annoys me. Like the cookie cutters I bought the other day- I got a good deal on the cookie cutters, but I was charged about 5x as much as it actually cost the seller to ship. Normally I wouldn't go for that, but I really wanted the cookie cutters for my friend and got a good price on them (W/O shipping.)
