    Unhappy Disgruntled ebay buyer

One of my auctions last week was one of DHs old wool London Fog coats. The thing looked great, and I checked it before I listed it. The guy paid for priority shipping and I mailed within the 3 days that it states on my auction. He emailed me that he was disappointed in the coat because it has a 12 inch tear in the lining (I honestly did NOT see a tear when I checked it out!!!!) and that he paid for 2-3 day shipping and didn't get it until yesterday!

The auction ended 12/4 and I mailed 12/7 - priority. What does he want - me to drive to MN and deliver it???? I never expect an auction to be mailed the same day unless it states that in the description.

And as for the condition of the coat - the outside is awesome - the guy got a $150 coat for $10 for pete's sake!!!! He sent me an email telling me there was no way I could have missed this tear and I was dishonest and deliberately misleading him. I am really stressing out about this!

I have only had 1 negative in 6 years and that woman never sent me her mailing address and then posted a negative that I never sent her payment info! I couldn't get a shipping cost without an address DUH!

I don't know why I am letting this guy bother me so much except that I hate for anyone to think I would deliberately mislead them and sell something dishonestly.

UGH - thanks for letting me vent.

The way I see it he got a heck of a deal on the coat, and I have never expected anyone to ship the same day either.

There are always going to be people out there who just like to gripe and are never satisfied.

If there was an overlooked rip, well it's not major as it was on the inside

Some people are jerks. I had a buyer like that. He tried to take total advantage. It still bothers you because you know that you did not do it on purpose, and someone is accusing you of being dishonest. I hope you get it straightened out.

It was stuff like that that made dh start putting a disclaimer on his auctions something to the effect of he's not Walmart and he doesn't do returns or exchanges, if you have ANY questions beyond what is in the auction ask before hand.

I have a love hate relationship with ebay for just that reason. I love buying stuff but hate selling stuff.

    Don't sweat it.

I agree! Buying is much more fun than selling. I hope you get it straightened out! I really think there are some people buying on eBay who make it their business to complain about EVERY purchase to get the seller to give them a partial refund. I've had some real lulus. Printing a disclaimer is helpful as YankeeMom said.

I'm having the same problem here. I shipped an item it was returned due to undeliverable address and the buyer said I should ship it again even though it was to the address he provided. I ended up refunding his money and re-listed the item. I left positive feedback, but I"m sure he's gonna leave me negative feedback. I hate ebay drama. Hopefully you can work something out with this guy..and like the others said...Don't let it stress ya.

I don't buy or sell on EBay so I don't know if you are able to leave additional feedback in the event he does leave negative feedback toward you. If so, you might want to point out that just because something is shipped priority does not guarantee it will be delivered in 3 days or less (especially this time of year) - they will even tell you that at the post office.

Such is e-bay life, I'm afraid. If he leaves negative feedback you will be allowed to respond and explain your side. I hope it doesn't come to that, though.

I've never sold anything on ebay, but a couple of years ago I purchased something for my dad. The seller stated that the item wouldn't be shipped until payment was received. I got the item so I assumed he received the payment. Several months later I got a note from ebay saying that I never paid for the item. We had moved by this time and I had cleaned out my bills folder and threw away the money order receipt by this time. Since I had no receipt I couldn't really fight it. The seller gave me a negative feed back for it. I thought that was boloney.
