What to sell on eBay?
Hi everyone,
I am always looking for new ways to generate some extra income, especially since my maternity benefits will be running out in March, and I have no intentions of going back to work (I've been a SAHM/WAHM since my oldest was born, and worked long enough last yeart to qualify for benefits, and don't want to work again till I've gone back to school)
I have often thought about eBay, but unlike a lot of people, never seem to have much luck finding goodies at thrift stores, and don't have the time to spend hours looking for stuff with kids in tow! I was wondering if handmade items sold, or what types of other items tend to sell. I like the idea of selling some handcrafted stuff, but don't want to put work into that unless I know it will pay off. I have 2 home biz's, but don't want to sell those items on eBay so much, as my understanding is that you can't link to your biz website from the auction.
So.. any ideas? Or am I totally barking up the wrong tree on this one? One of the items I was thinking of selling was handspun yarn for example.

Here is the current selling link for homespun yarn on ebay. Looks like it does very well.http://search.ebay.com//search/searc...=handspun+yarn
Here are the completed items of the last 30 days. In case you aren't familiar with completed items on ebay, the prices in black are the ones that sold. Looks like some good profit in yarn but then I don't know what it costs to make either.

I sell stuff from around my house but unlike most people I do have an over abundance of "stuff" so it makes it easier. If I sold something that makes a good profit, I do keep my eyes open for that sort of thing at thirft stores or library sales. I sold some Tole Painting magazines for a hefty profit so when I found more of them at the Library sale I scooped them for a quarter a piece and made about a $20.00 profit off them. The main thing to do is do your research on ebay, current and completed items listing of things you would like to sell. It helps if you know something about the item. Try to stay away from any electronics because so much can go wrong with them during shipping. Be sure to go to Community (tab at top of your My Ebay Page) and check out the discussion boards and most important the Answer Center posts. It will give you a real education on buying and selling and keep you from making mistakes right off.
From my research you don't get your best profit from handmade items on ebay, although the tools, notions and materials seem to sell well. There are some really nice handmade craft selling boards that you can get higher prices from but they all require a credit card and I don't use one so can't use them to sell with. On ebay you can just use your checking account to register with for selling and receiving payments.
If I can help you any way with ebay just let me know.
Good luck and happy ebaying."Success on any major scale requires you to accept responsibity."
