Default What kind of things sell on ebay best?

I see from your posts that several of you sell on ebay. What kind of things sell best and have you had any problems with selling? I'd like to try it for myself. Please tell me of your experiences...

    Thanks!

I have kind of a specialized business - pet bird supplies. I make a good supplemental income, but have a lot of repeat customers.

I do see that yarns and knitting supplies tend to sell - especially the Clover bamboo knitting needles and handmade or hand-dyed yarns.

Also, Laurel Burch earrings. A friend of mine came into a batch of those and listed them one at a time. It was a feeding frenzy every auction!

I tend to sell things that I find at yardsales, used to sell alot of books, but with the fees now its usually not worth it ...Half is better for that. I have sold many vintage clothes, even my own clothes in lots! Old toys, care bears, brand name kids stuff you find at yard sales, pottery, etc. Most evrything I have sold I have gotten at yardsales.

We sell mostly formula coupons and vintage toys but we've tried a bit of everything. There's a feature on the ebay site where you can check and see what's sold recently, it helps you get an idea what people are looking for.

It really varies. I see a lot of high-end childrens' clothing selling well, but unless you find a distributor, I don't see much profit there. Electronics seem to do well. Mostly I sell whatever I have, lol. I've sold clothing and coupons. I try to find stuff with low shipping costs because if it has a high shipping cost, the bids are typically lower.

Karen, can you tell me where to find this feature on ebay? I've looked and don't see it anywhere.

Just about everything sells well on ebay. It all depends on the week. You could have something that sold great one week, then the next week, no one wants it. If you can finds something for a great deal and then flip it on ebay, you'll do well. Of course, it's totally worth it to get rid of the stuff that you don't really need.

Okay, I've kind of forgotten the exact way I used to check but on the main e-bay page you can do an advanced search and that is what I've been doing: Search the item I'm considering selling, see if any have sold recently and at what price, just to see if it's worth it. HTH!

I used to have an interest in the occult. Those books sold at a higher price than ANY other topic of books I've sold on ebay. Especially since they were old books from the 70s.

If you have textbooks, try posting them in August and January for best results.

Almost anything sells, I've been selling clothes and shoes and books and videos, etc from around the house. Basically, just I don't need anymore as I simplify my life. Craft items seem to sell, fabric, kits, etc. Lots of people buy stuff from yard sales and thrift stores, I haven't gotten that far, I'm still decluttering my house! I think the report they were talking about is the Hot List. The link is on the main page of E-Bay. They have a list for every category, so it could take a while to browse through, unless you already have an idea what you want to sell.

Likewise, clothing and misc things from around the house.

Although, I sold a video monitor that started smoking on guy when he plugged it in, now I have to return his money *sigh*
You win some you lose some but I would rather be a good seller
