Default anyone here freelance writing (small scale )?

    Hi everyone,

    Just looking for some inspiration.

I'm currently penning book columns for a couple of local papers, plus writing reviews for a mystery magazine (latter is non-paying)

I'd love to branch out a little more to supplement our income...I'm not talking hitting the big time with Elle magazine, more a small but steady income.

Most of all- I need to FOCUS my ideas, I guess. The old adage 'write what you know' ?

    Anyone cracked this ?

    Cheers,

    Pam in rural Nova Scotia

    Pam,

I am a freelance writer and write for an online site (non-paying).

re: 'write what you know'. Just think of all the things you enjoy doing. This is where you can shine and be seen as an 'expert'. It sounds like you enjoy reading, especially mystery novels/movies?? Me too, that's good. But, I have found that people are anxious for advice concerning work, family, finance and cooking.

Also, suggest that you check out http://www.writersweekly.com/ to see what freelance jobs are available. I have found this to be a very reliable site. I have hit pay dirt and gotten a few jobs from their listings. My online articles have helped me get the jobs. I have not hit "big time" and not trying for it. But I do make some money.

Hope this helps a bit. Good luck.
