I'm having a completely impromptu yard sale tomorrow (weather permitting)- help me!
As I have mentioned before, I am really rotten with pricing. I've already priced a few things and I am just going to leave them as-is, but there are things I am not sure about. Can you give me ballpark what you would pay for something similar?
I am thinking about selling two cabinets we pulled out of our bathroom. I had planned to put them in DD's closet, but that is just silly, especially if I can sell them, They are not custom, but they are in EXCELLENT condition- they are like new. They are about 2 feet wide by three feet high and maybe 18 inches deep. I can sell them together or separately. Suggestions?
I am also selling a hood hair dryer- similar to the ones in hair salons, only portable. It was something like $40 originally, and it has been used only 3 times. I priced it at $12 last year and had some interest but no takers. Suggestions?
I have three VERY LARGE faux bamboo (plastic) outdoor blinds. We just don't have anyplace to use them at this house- we have a Sunsetter awning and we don't need them. They are in fine condition, especially once I dust them off. One is probably 5-6 feet long, 8 ft high, and two are probably about 8x8. I have no idea how much they cost because we didn't buy them. My sister used to have them on her enclosed porch, we had them on an apartment porch, and many people use them on campers. Suggestions?
I also have one of those small microwave cart that is pressed wood or somthing similar. It has the top shelf, an open middle shelf, and then a roll-up cabinet section on the bottom. It is in very good condition. Suggestions?
I have a cloth baby travel seat. It is made by Fisher Price, and is apparently the only one in the whole world based upon my complete inability to find anything even remotely similar online to compare it to. It is meant to replace a bouncy seat when traveling, though it isn't a bouncer- it is a cloth and board (for stability) seat that folds up and buckles shut into a very compact infant seat. When open, you can put it on the floor and buckle an infant into it. It also has a cloth-covered activity bar with a few stuffed toys on it. It is in very good condition, and I suspect it probably cost at least $20 new, but I really don't know. My sister got no takers at $8 where she lives. Suggestions?
I'll be back with more, I'm sure, but these are what I need help with now:
Cabinets?
Hair Dryer?
Blinds?
Microwave Cart?
Infant Seat?

One thing I would do is find online prices/ads and print them and have them near the item, along with your asking price so that people know they are getting a good deal.
Good luck!Annie

I always go with the max price being half of what I paid for it. If it has had some use I go down from there. Depends on how bad you want to get rid of it.

I would think...
Cabinets? 15-25 ea
Hair Dryer?5-15
Blinds?5-8 ea
Microwave Cart?10-20
Infant Seat? 8-12
perfume? 3-5 (people get weird about these things and won't spend much for them)
i don't know what the usual prices are up there for yard sales, but that's what i'd expect them to be at here. you might concider pricing things a bit "high" and then letting people haggle you down...~~ Missy ~~

This might be too late for you, but a rule of thumb that I've heard is that yard/garage sale prices should be 10-25% of new retail. It's not much, but stuff moves.

Thanks, everyone- didn't end up really having a sale. We were out there 1/2 hour when it started raining and I got irrationally POd because it rains and rains and rains and never stops. So all that stuff is now sitting in my unused living room, and I doubt I will do anything with it now before we go on vacation.

Sorry Kimberly. This weather has been the worst ever for rain. It's almost every day & you don't know when it will come. Heaviest rain ever.

Hope your trip finds you with just right temps & no rain .
