Selling on Amazon??
I'm considering selling my books/CD's/Video games on amazon but am wondering...
How secure is it? It asks to provide you bank account information.
How successful has it been for you?
Did you have any problems?

I have sold books on Amazon for about a year and a half. I love it. It's *much* easier than ebay which I did full-time some years ago. Listing is a breeze and the listings don't have to be re-entered if you sign up for their program (can't remember what it's called but it's $40 per month after the intro period). You have to sell enough for that program to make sense. Sales will be ok if you keep adding inventory regularly. Amazon makes it very easy to track your positioning in terms of sale price which will also help.
I have no qualms about giving Amazon my financial info. The money part is really tremendous - they take the customers' payments and credit your account twice per month. No Paypal, no waiting for checks in the mail, etc.
The downsides that you'll discover are the "penny sellers" and the low values for many books in that environment. You have to figure out for yourself how low a value is too low to make it worthwhile. There's a real downward pressure on sales prices on Amazon. Undercutting the books listed makes the problem worse.
The question and answer forums are a huge help and I highly recommend them. I read and read the postings there when I was getting started. There's lots of info on pricing, shipping, etc.
Good luck!

I have been pretty successful at it. Amazon does take out a lot of fees per transaction, though (I don't pay however many dollars a month for a premium account, so they take a good chunk out when I sell something). However, I have made hundreds of dollars thanks to the site (I sold the bulk of stuff in April of this year, and only put things up occassionally now, now I don't have any inventory up). I also like that you can deposit the money to your bank account whenever, unlike half.com where you have to wait twice a month for it to automatically be deposited.
My advice, if something has a price of 0.01 or anything under 5 dollars, it really isn't worth selling... but anything over I think is worth listing. I just sold a text book a few days ago that I had purchased for 10 dollars for 30 dollars... that was a good sale.

I've sold a few things on Amazon, but I prefer Half.com since the fees are lower (Amazon is 15% plus $1, Half.com is just 15%). I will list on Amazon if I have a brand-new item OR a high value item (a book/cd/dvd I think I can get $25 or more for) because they have a lot more people looking through their site.
