New to ebay and have a few questions
Hello all! I am going to try and sell a few things on ebay and noticed on a another post that someone mentioned Aug1st there was a sale on post listings.. how do you find out when the next one is? I would like to take advantage of one of those rather than pay full price for a listing.
Also.. any other good advice anyone can give a newbie?
thanks

If you receive emails from them they will notify you about promotions the day before or the first day of a 2 day event. They don't give you much time.

tip #1 - try to post your listings so they end on a Sunday evening.

Once you are registered with E-bay, you will get the e-mails automatically when then send them out. They did it the special the beginning of the month, but they don't do it every month. There is no set pattern. I think if you have stuff ready to sell, I would just jump in and start listing. Don't wait for the reduced fees. If they do have a special, you can list some extra things then. JMHO.
I agree with bumplett, I usually list my auctions on Sunday night for 7 days and have them end on Sunday night. It seems to work for me. Another big key to e-bay is to do your research. What is stuff that you are listing selling for, you don't want to sell yourself short, but you don't want to list for too high of a price that you won't sell it. You'll have to decide what amount you are willing to get for an item.
I love E-bay, I just re-opened my store and I will be stocking it full of stuff this weekend along with running a bunch of auctions!
Have fun!~Kim~

I listed a few things this afternoon to try it out and see. It seems like the fees can be alot if your item doesn't sell for much.
Also.. what is the best way to do the shipping? I don't want to take my stuff to get it weighed etc. before I mail it out, and I don't want to short change myself either.
thanks

If you are going to sell a bunch of stuff on e-bay, i would invest in a postage scale. That way you can figure out how much your actual shipping would be. I ship my items by priority mail and just print the label right through Pay Pal. It's very convenient and I don't have to wait in line at the post office.

Ebay usually does specials on listing fees maybe once every 2-3 months. They had more this summer, but I think that's because sales are always slower in the summer months.
As far as weighing your items, you can always stand on a bathroom scale without the package, then stand on the scale with the package and you can get the weight. The more you sell, you won't need to do that since you'll have a general idea of the weight.
I usually charge a flat rate shipping since I've shipped so much, I have a general idea of what the shipping will be.
I do think that ebay sales get higher prices in the evening. Just remember, sales can radically change from week to week. Just because you sell something for $100 one week, doesn't mean you'll sell it for the same another week.

I use flat rate priority boxes for most items - it's a flat $8.10 regardless of weight. (this works well for me on the heavier items)
I also purchased a small digital postage scale off ebay
I spent around $15 & it was weeeeeeeell worth the $$ I use it all the time!
I also print my shipping labels directly off Paypal, then schedule pickup for the next day. Makes life soooooo much easier!

Is there somewhere with a list of ebay sellers and links to their stuff for sale on this site? I would be willing to look at the listings of the ladies on here selling items, and see if there is anything I need.
