    Default Any Babysitters Out Here?

    Hi Y'all

We babysit three wee boys M-F, with a couple of part-timers now and again as well. The wee boys are 18 months, 12 months and 4 months--with my own two hooligans being 13 and 11 years old, a house full o' babies is a riot! We're homeschoolers, so my two are here as well--it's been a great experience for us all. We're enjoying it, not to mention lightly that the income is good for our budget!

Any other babysitters out here? How's it goin' for y'all? I'll post goings on and challenges we have next chance I get.

    ~~Nice to meet everyone

I watch one little girl (just turned 4) T, W, TH. She's good friends with my oldest daughter so it's not too tough. I'm not going to be watching her in a few weeks when I have our new baby but we'll probably start to watch her again this fall.

I used to, but I don't anymore. I was thinking about starting back up again, but right now it is kind of tough. My preschooler would get home and wig out if there were other kids (doesn't handle transitions very well). Enjoy! It sounds like you're having fun!

Oh! Just thought of something else to add--another great money maker is doing a "parents night out". Watch the kiddos on a Friday or Saturday night, plan a theme like "Monkeying around". Let the kids wear their pj's, pop in a Curious George movie, and eat peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Parents are usually willing to spend a little extra to actually be able to have a date night.

I used too but haven't for a year. I've been thinking of doing it again just to get us further ahead. Dh doesn't want me to get a job outside the home.

I like the idea of doing a parents night out.

I don't babysit at my home, but I work at the kids day out program in the baby room. I've just got to say that having eight babies in a room ranging in age from five to eighteen months has given me quite a bit of perspective on what the parents of multiples must feel Ironically, I'd probably make more if I did in-home childcare, but AJ is really happy there so we're going to finish out the year and see what comes of next year.

I do, I mind 2 kids M-F from 8-6, they are 3yo and 8mo, I lso have my own 3 yo and a 7yo - it can get a bit chaotic sometimes! the 2 3yo get up to all kinds of mischeif LOL, its good fun though and the money comes in handy!. I am exhausted at the end of the day LOL. I always try to have a bit of structure in the day to make things run abit smoother and am doing activities like painting, colouring and clay craft to keep them entertained!

Nice to 'meet' all of you!

I have some friends who regularly lament their lack of funds and I keep saying two things-- 'simplify' and 'try babysitting' but for some reason most want to make it more complicated than it is lol. I have to turn away babysitting offers often, we live in a very rural area and there just aren't many options out here--which benefits me!

I love the kid-chaos, myself LOL!

I have one o' those, only now he's older and handles things MUCH better! Trust me, they do adjust as they grow older.
IF you wanted to TRY babysitting again, you could try it in the summertime when there's no school--less adjusting to be done, ya know?

I don't babysit, but we are also a foster home. Our own sons are 21 years and 18 years old. Right now we have a 6 month old girl and a 19 month old boy with us, just had 8 and 10 year old girls leave after a six month stay, plus we do "every-other-weekend" respite foster care for children that are: 10, 6, 6, 3, 3, 2, and 2 years old.

Needless to stay, our house gets quite chaotic at times.....
