Help with rates....
I really need a income and I'm trying to get started in a homecleaning business.
I have a question for anyone who does housecleaning.
Do you charge by the hour or the size of the house?
Also,if you charge by the hour, what is a good rate?
Thanks in advance for you help.

My mom has a house keeper that comes every Thursday and Friday. Momma just pays her a set rate every week no matter what needs to be done or how long it takes.
My step-mom cleans a few houses and she charges by the size of the house and what the person wants done (laundry, windows, basic cleaning, deep cleaning, change sheets, clean blinds, scrub baseboards, etc...).DD (19)

I charge by the job. I look at what the person wants done and figure out how long it will take me. Also figure in if your providing the chemicals or they are. That makes a difference. Don't price yourself too cheap. Also your gas to get to and from the job.

I would charge by the hour. I have thought about starting to clean houses but I need a steady check so now is not a good time to start my own business.
