    Default Help with rates....

I really need a income and I'm trying to get started in a homecleaning business.
I have a question for anyone who does housecleaning.

Do you charge by the hour or the size of the house?
Also,if you charge by the hour, what is a good rate?

Thanks in advance for you help.

My mom has a house keeper that comes every Thursday and Friday. Momma just pays her a set rate every week no matter what needs to be done or how long it takes.

My step-mom cleans a few houses and she charges by the size of the house and what the person wants done (laundry, windows, basic cleaning, deep cleaning, change sheets, clean blinds, scrub baseboards, etc...).

I charge by the job. I look at what the person wants done and figure out how long it will take me. Also figure in if your providing the chemicals or they are. That makes a difference. Don't price yourself too cheap. Also your gas to get to and from the job.

I would charge by the hour. I have thought about starting to clean houses but I need a steady check so now is not a good time to start my own business.
