A week long yard sale
I've decided to have a week long yard sale. Actually, according to the city ordinances, you can only have three yard sales in a 12 month period, and they can only be 3 days long, so I'm having two at one time. I'm going to sell almost everything I own....really cheap. All I need is enough to make next month's house payment, and I'll be fine.

I'm not sure about your area, but it might be better to just have a yard sale a few weekends in a row rather than a weeklong one. Most people don't go to them during the weekdays so you might get discouraged and price items even lower to get rid of them, whereas you could have gotten your asking price on a weekend.
Good luck with it though!! I can't wait to have one in the fall. I live in an apartment complex, so am joining up with a friend of mine so I can use her yard

I would only have my yard sale on Friday thru Sunday for two weekends. I would price your things higher the first weekend and then lower the prices the second weekend. I understand how you feel but Im concerned you will regret selling your thing so cheap. You say you only need enough for next months payment but what if you need money the following month. Even the fasts home sale takes 30 days.

I agree with Ann, I say have your yard sale 2 weekends in a row on Fri, Sat & Sun. Good luck with your sales and let us know how things turn out.

for some reason - Thursday has become the best yard sale day around here....
IF you're going to try the week long sale, I'd suggest you advertise the heck out of it!! BIG signs and lots of them!

We are 70% retirees here, so they are always up for a good yard sale any day of the week. I'll start it on Thursday, when all the grocery specials start and people are out shopping anyway, and end it on the next Wednesday.
Since we have such a large retired community, the weekends aren't necessarily the best time.

Jaded ~ A tip for you is to ask the realtor who will be selling your house, for garage sale signs. We did this and they were AWESOME signs with holders and very bright, noticeable and brought lots of people. Good luck!!!
