? for those of you who sell on ebay...
...do you find that the things you sell tend to make money pretty often? There have been times in the past that I've listed things and gotten next to nothing for them, not enough to justify the gas to go to the post office. I make handmade cards and some other things and would love to sell them someplace like ebay (I know of some cloth diaper makers who sell there exclusively) but I'm worried about doing all that work and then things not actually selling.

Have you looked into etsy.com? Might have better luck selling that kind of stuff there than on Ebay. Just a thought.

Indeed I have (that's where I got my christmas cards hehe). But it seems like everyone I talk to who sells there says that they don't actually sell that much unless they're someone who has been on there a bit or got popular very quickly. One forum I'm on has a space for homemade things to sell, but there aren't that many people on the board so I don't think it would be that profitable.

I have been selling on Ebay for over two years, and unfortunately it is very difficult to make a great deal selling handmade items. Sad really because I think the items are worth so very much more than they usually fetch.

I agree that it is sorta difficult to sell handmade items on ebay. My MIL makes crafts and sells them and craft shows, she tried ebay and wasn't very succesful.
Hope you can find something that works out for you!

I think a lot of the time, people are looking more for a deal than actual quality on Ebay. I think I would google "handmade greeting cards" and just see what other people are doing. You may want to think about opening your own website. It probably would be slow at first, but with word of mouth, you'd probably get going.
You may want to also try to find small shops to sell your cards in. And, get the word out in as many ways as you can think of!
That's what all the articles I've read always say, anyway. :-)
I hope it helps!
