Marketplace update
OK. I only have a couple of small cosmetic things to change, but I think it's working now.
First you post your ad on the classifieds page
http://www.frugalvillage.com/classifieds
Basically, there's the option to have you manually post it to the forum yourself or to have it automatically post by itself. This in addition to it being shown on the classified section.
Here's the difference:
If you post it manually...this wouldn't be manually like when you start a thread. This is going to the bottom of the forums under "Today Events" and clicking the link that says Marketplace, locating your ad, and pressing "talk about it" This will post it to the forums with your username as the thread starter. So look at it as two clicks and it's posted with your username.
What this means is your ad is viewable on the actual marketplace (classifieds) and posted to the forum too. This lets people know you placed a new ad in case they aren't in the habit of visiting the classifieds.
Or
It can post automatically, but then there's going to be a few minute delay before it posts and it will be posted with the generic username "Marketplace"
So it's one way or the other. I've tested both ways and I would think each person would want their ad to have their own username as the poster, but maybe convenience matters more to you guys.
Either way and we're set to go. (well other than minor tweaks)
Let me know what you think and feel free to post an ad and you can test out getting it placed on the forums the way I explained above. Hoping I was clear. Sometimes I know what I mean but am not very good about explaining it.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. When I click to view the ad in there (test) it says I don't have permission.

I didn't run a test, but went through all but the final step. Worked for me and I can't wait to post some stuff, possibly tomorrow. Thanks!

Smooth as silk! I posted my first product for sale. The process is very easy to understand and VERY user friendly. Thanks so much for getting this together so quickly.

Okay, now that I've posted, how will I know if someone buys what I've posted? Does anybody know what happens next? I feel like such a newbie!

Well I suppose that makes perfect sense, now. Doesn't it? It's still early and I'm only on my first cup of coffee.

Thanks

It's OK...really.
Brand new feature and I didn't explain how any of it actually worked. I did notice your ad didn't automatically post to the forums. I manually posted it on my end. I'm not sure if it's because I didn't give it enough time or what. Need to look into that.

I posted late, last night and I did go to Today's Events and clicked Talk About It. Then I waited... and waited... and waited... And it still hadn't posted to the forum. I'm sure it will all be straightened out, eventually. Like you said, it is a new feature. I'm just glad to be a part of it. I can be the test monkey LOL
waking up, now

Yes, the lemongrass is mine. I have a lot of different soaps, but thought I'd start with my favorite to see how this whole thing works.

Well after goofing several times, I have it automatically posting and don't want to touch it again. lol I broke it a few times and well quite frankly I don't have time this weekend to fix it better than it is. I know that sounds horrible, but it's true. Next available chunk of time, I'll see what I can do. For now I'm really behind on my writing.

The news and the classifieds ads will automatically post into the "News you can use" forum. (Located under the main forum "Leisure Arts" These posts will show me as the poster and will update on a regular basis, so if you post to the classifieds, it will automatically post to the forums. (although delayed a bit) Same goes for various money related news.
We still have a for sale or trade forum. As soon as I get more time, we'll be dropping that forum. I can have an "In search of" section on the classified ads. Again, I need more time to do these things.
I tried it a few different ways, but discovered I've got so many add ons here on the boards that pinpointing what is what would take me way too much time that I don't have right now.
The good news is that my username will have plenty of casino bucks to donate to others. lol
At any rate, it should work fine now.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. Thanks a bunch Sara. I don't know how you do it with family, writing & FV and the rest of the sites but your efforts are appreciated. Really. If there any problems with this or anything for that matter, no rush, you have other things to do and we all can wait. Can't we? Yep.
