Default Do You Think These Will Sell??

okay, I'm trying to post a picture here, don't know if its going to go through or not.

    I need your honest opinions....
I have posted "baby keepsake bracelets" on Craig's list. If the picture didn't go through, I will describe what they look like-
the bracelets are on a stretchy cord & has the round alphabet beads spelling out the child's name & it also has either pink or blue beads-depending if the child is a girl or a boy.
I am going to be cutom making these for people -if I get any replies- for $3 each....$5 if I have to mail the order to cover postage/ appropriate envelopes/ gas I use to get to the post office.
Do you think that anyone will ever want to buy these?

I don't see why not. The only thing I would be worried about is the possible choking factor. If pulled on can the come appart easily? etc. I am assuming this would go on a young baby. I would maybe include a paper with a small warning. I know sometime it sounds silly like the choking hazard on plastic bags but some people just don't think and do very silly things. If it were my child I would only have a young baby wear it when awake and supervised. I wouldn't leave it on for example when I put them to bed. But that's just me and my 2 cents, just something to think about.
I think the idea is really cute though and a great keepsake.

they are cute. I bought a bunch of those for s project. The lady that made them didn't charge much I think I paid 0.75 each. I dont' know if I got a special price.

As shortcake mentioned, if you're selling these for babies, you need a disclaimer.

I'd recommend using the white cord instead of the black.

I think they're sweet. I would second (or third) the white elastic and a disclaimer. I think most people would buy them as a keepsake rather than having their child wear them.

When I had my first baby they put the braclet like that on her...I still have it. Geez that was along time ago I think they should it would make a great gift for a new parent also.

I would think they would be better marketed to the 8-10 year old girl crowd...but not sure how you would do that!

I think your price is right. I had a craft business with a friend for a few years and found that at the craft shows, anything personalized (especially for kids) sold really well!

I've tried selling crafts on craigslist before though, and havn't had much luck. I've always had better luck on ebay.

    But those are super cute!

FYI....what catagory are you putting them in on Crailslist? If you are making them to *sell*, that makes you a business and you can only post in the business/services section. People flag them off like crazy around here....maybe you'll have better luck?

I agree with marketing towards an older crowd as well. I think you'd do well with the 8-12 age range - but go for it with ALL ages

I personally wouldn't spend $3, but hey, I'm a bit on the frugal side

If they sell well on craigslist, you could then try ebay as well.

    Good Luck!!

ok I agree on the white cord, disclaimer and to be honest I personally wouldnt spend $3 on one but I am a cheapskate, sorry.

I do however think they will sell well to any crowd if you choose.

I had been going through my beads to thin out my stash & I thought that I would try one more last effort to raise a little money for the medical EF. I thought that the white cord would have been a better idea, however, all I had on hand was black....& I'm too cheap to run to the store just for one item.lol...so I just made these up real quick & posted them on Craigslist. I think that if I don't get any replies in a week, I'll just pull the ad & put the rest of the beads in my mom's garage sale....I'm sick of looking at them.

I agree with targeting the 8-10 yo girl crowd. They go crazy over personalized things! That way you don't have to worry about a disclaimer, etc... Maybe make them up at the yardsale and sell them like that instead of the whole lot of beads. Get DD's to give you a hand for some pocket money. Good luck!

They're selling a similar bracelet -- only for adult females -- called mother's bracelets. Regular beads with their kid's name on it. Selling for about $5. If I had a kid, I'd wear (and buy one). Something to think about with Mother's Day in a few short months.

I think they will sell, but not sure how well on CL. For $3, I would buy one if I had a child. Good luck.

I think they are cute. Of course, I agree about the white thread and I agree the age group of 8 to 12 year olds maybe. I would think Mother's might also purchase them for keepsakes with their babies names. Good luck!
