Nutritional Consults w/ Dietitian... How Much Would You Pay?
A hundred years ago I worked as a Registered Dietitian providing dietary consultations for a hospital. I haven't worked in a long time but am now interested in bringing in some additional money for our family. I'm thinking about offering weight loss counseling services out of my home office. The dietitians who have an out-patient clinic in my town charge lots of money for a private consultation. Since I won't have hardly any overhead (simple office stuff, malpractice insurance, etc.) I will be able to charge less. But, I want to make enough to make it worthwhile.
So, my question is, how much would you be willing to spend for a private consultation with an R.D.? (Insurance generally does not reimburse except for diabetics and people with renal failure so it would most likely be out of pocket for the majority of my clients.) Would you pay to receive services from a dietitian?

I go to mine at least once a year for a series of refresher classes divided up over two to three days. Both of my kids have been going since the youngest was 5 and the oldest was 7. They go at least once a year and sometimes twice, depending on the circumstances. Luckily our insurance has always paid 100%.
Mine charges $335 for 8 hours of consult time.
The pediatric nutritionist charges $177 per hour per child. (Plus there is a $936.10 "outpatient fee" per child, per visit.)
I got these numbers off of my paperwork from our most recent visits. According to my info, these are the amounts the insurance agreed to pay.

I'm not sure how much I would pay since I've never been to one, but just a thought. You could probably do it online too. You could talk to people via email, maybe phone, instant messenger? Maybe you could even do up a weekly newsletter? for next to nothing a year, you could have your own site and domain name (check GoDaddy).
