Default Please help and tell me if I am about to be scammed

    Hi everyone,
I am fairly new to this forum but I am hoping you can give me your advice. My in laws gave me a Kirby Vacuum that has never been used. They retail for $1200 and to make extra money to pay off debt I listed the vacuum on craigslist. I have only received one reply to my post. below I have copied and pasted the e mails I have received.

Hello, I'm Susan, am satisfied with the description and condition of
    the
item listed above by you on the Ad, Please let me know if the piece is
    still
available for sale and kindly attach more pictures if available. I have
    a
problem talking on phone because I'm hearing impaired I look forward to
    reading from you soon.

Good, I'll send a draft from my bank to cover the cost as I'm satisfied with what I've seen so far, anyways I'll not be available for the pick-up due to my job transfer, busy schedule and shortness of time, but my intention is to hire a mover to pick it up. I will need the details of whom & where to mail the draft. It will be delivered by the United Parcel Service within 2-3 days. Please note 'ups' does not deliver to P.O.Box addresses.
1.Name to be on the check
    2.Home address
    3.Telephone
Kindly delete the posting. I'm totally committed to buying the item from you to save my costs please I'll appreciate if you'll get back to me as soon as possible

I noticed that each e mail was sent from a diffrent e mail address. The first was from a gmail address and the second from a care2 address. I am just feeling a little hesitant to accept anything but cash. but this is the only offer i have received and i really could use the money. Do you think this is a scam? should i be concerned?

SCAM!!! Sounds like a scam to me. I'd run fast. The language sound very similar to that used in other e-mail type schemes. I wouldn't even bother replying further.

I go with the scam theory, too. Too many red flags. Appears to have been written by someone that doesn't speak English as their primary language.

There are postings all over Craigslist warning about these scams!! Of course it's a scam...report it to the admins at Craigslist.

It's definitely a scam. Did you notice in their email they did not specifically mention the vacuum, it's the "item" or the "piece" - my husband has put a lot of stuff on Craigslist and the scammers all sound the same, exactly like the one email you got. We've had good luck selling stuff but only to locals, who picked the stuff up and paid in cash. Beware because there's a lot of scammers!

SCAM! When I sold my car on craigslist, I got several of these from different people, all pretty much verbatim.

Very much so a scam! I have gotten emails like this from a local website similar to Craigslist. They pretend to send you the money - which some how does not actually make it into you bank account, then either they or someone else comes around to collect their new vacuum. I have never had this happen to me, but I read about something similar on MSN. Also be very leary of a paypal in this situation - same thing - the money shows, but then turns out to be fraud, but your vacuum is gone. Good luck and maybe check the other prices out there if yours is not selling - make sure to include pictures, etc....

    This is a scam.
Here's a website that Scams the Scammers. http://www.419eater.com/

I read it.. and it's hysterical!
It's about a group of people that prey on the scammers who are preying on the innocent.

And of course. CL has thier own advice
    http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams.html

next time I get a scam email... I'm going to 419 them.

Yes, it is a scam, I just hate it when people do crap like that. Here we are trying to find ways to make money and they try to steal from us.

When it comes to craigslist, I wouldn't accept anything but cash.
