    Default Ebay

I just registered for ebay. I'm planning on having a yardsale when the weather warms up but thought I would try to list some things on ebay to see if I could bring extra money in.

I was going to list an auction for a lot of toddler shoes and ship in a flate rate 8.95 usps box and buy my label online so there will be a tracking number.

Is there anything I should do to make sure i'm protected?

Wow, you picked a bad time lol!

Did you know about the boycotts?

Have you heard about the rate hike for sellers that is coming along with way sellers are no longer going to be able to leave negative or neutal feedback.

I myself got out when the star rating crap started.

You should go to the Ebay community to sellars central and read up on how best to protect yourself.

Good luck to you, I hope you do great!

Oh and go to the usps site and order free boxes and also, Sams is the best place for bubble wrap.

Remember that you'll lose aprox 13% to final fee values. Then your listing fees, and if you use paypal, their fees.

Personally, I wouldn't pay $9 shipping for toddler shoes.

You might have better luck listing on kijiji or craigslist. I list stuff there free, and people pick it up paying by cash. I use kijiji, as our local craigslist sucks. BUt you'll know what works best for you.

    Yeah, I have to agree.
It's really bad at ebay right now.
    Things have changed a lot.
I hope you find other ways to
    sell your items. Try craigslist.com.

I used to sell on Ebay but between their fees and Paypal fees, it just isn't worth it anymore. If the shoes are name brand like Gymboree they may sell well and someone will pay the shipping. Check out the completed items to see what has sold. I still buy on Ebay as there is no fee for buyers.

Wow! It's been awhile since I've been on Ebay. I guess I'm missing all of the excitement. That's just too bad.

whoops I posted that link without a note with it about what it is about....losing my mind one day at a time I guess.

That link is the ABC news about the boycott and why sellers are doing it.

    Sorry!

I havent had any problems with Ebay recently. Infact they recently lowered the listing fees and they offer free Gallery picture now. I have not heard of any Boycotts or issues.

They only lowered the listing fees by 5 cents and raised the final value fees by more than 3% so they are actually taking more. Also they are taking the option for sellers to give a negative or a neutral for bad buyers. That in itself is bothering sellers more than the final value fees.

I don't sell a lot on Ebay but I've made a bit and got rid of some things we didn't need.

We were Power Sellers at one time on ebay, however have stopped selling over the past year. Up until recently we were still making purchases. But with the new fees and feedback system we have joined in the boycott and are not doing any business on ebay at all.

Frankly it was a pain in the rear at tax time paying my texas sales tax and having to file 2 different forms with our regular taxes and I came out in the hole!

Gee--but I was doing a product hand painted cherries so i was making something from something but anyone can take a loss at the end of the year.

If you go to a yard sale and spend $20 on stuff and only make $7 you end up in the hole.

    Then add listing fees....

They nickle and dime you to death!

and then you have to pay taxes--blah!

On a lot of items your just better off having a yard sale or donating for a tax write off. Do your homework and see what things are selling for.
