    Default FIL passed away

    I wanted to thank you all for your prayers during his illness. He passed away yesterday, Friday. My DS#1 and DS#2, which are the oldest two grandchildren, were with him when he passed away. My MIL had been staying with him every day, but she had to leave for an hour and asked them to come sit with him. DS#2 took it very hard. He said he wishes he would never have been there to watch his grandfather take his last breath. They were very close as we lived right next door to them. I was very glad that DS#1 made it home in time to let his grandfather know he loved him. He flew in from NC on Thursday night and we went straight to the hospital that evening. It is a sorrowful moment, but a joyful moment too. We know that he is no longer struggling to breath and he is at peace. His body was tired and he went home. We know that one day we will see him again.

    Thank you for the prayers. They are appreciated. We have family visitation tonight. I know that will be tough and then the funeral tomorrow which is even tougher. I am thankful we live next door to my mother-in-law. She is relying on us to help her through this. DH and I have had to help her with all the arrangements and future plans. I know it is because she is still in shock and can not think of what needs to be done. I am hoping that we have covered everything.

    Michelle, I pray the Lord will comfort you and your family and give you the strength to get through this. I lost my Dad in 2002 to cancer and I understand your sorrow in losing him and your joy in knowing that he is at peace. God bless!
