    Question Productivity...I've asked this before

Do you feel better in general if you keep busy? As someone who suffers from depression, I feel so much better if I do lots...it doesn't matter if they're the smallest of tasks. If I can make a list of things that I've done during the day, then I feel better. Most people would laugh at what I put on my list, but it's often really hard to just get the "oomph" to do things that people do without thinking about it.

I've been pretty productive so far today:

    • showered, dressed, and did my hair
    • ate breakfast & took meds
    • watered & weeded our flower & veggie gardens
    • 2 loads of laundry

Not bad for 10:45 and ME

Do you feel better in general if you keep busy?
Oh yes! Actually, staying busy is the only thing that will keep me from going into what I call my "pit of despair". If I take 2 or 3 days and just sit around and read a book and do nothing more than fix dinner, I lapse into a deeper depression. It seems to be always lurking out there ready to grab hold of me even if I am taking meds.

And Michelle, I also like to make lists of things that I have done each day. I find it very helpful or rather it inspires me to keep going and yes, even such a normal thing, like showering or eating breakfast, is always on my list of an accomplishments for the day.

Those of us who suffer depression know it's a struggle every day just to do what most would consider "normal".

Thanks for posting this because I really needed it today.

Yes, I feel much better if I keep busy, make lists and so forth. I was thinking the same thing, yesterday, I'm so glad you posted this, it makes me feel like I'm not alone.

I am so glad to hear I'm not alone battling this.

I'm adding more to my list as I go about my day:

    • showered, dressed, and did my hair
    • ate breakfast & took meds
    • watered & weeded our flower & veggie gardens
    • 2 loads of laundry
    • emptied & loaded dishwasher
    • another load of laundry
    • gave the kids their first "formal" lesson in doing laundry
