Step-dad lost his battle to cancer
My step-dad lost his battle to cancer on Monday morning. I was with him all weekend and did not want to leave because I knew it would be any minute. We finally left late Sunday night and my niece woke me up early Monday monring with the news. I know he is in a better place, but I am selfish and did not want him to go. He was only 61 and had lung, bone, and liver cancer and 1t was just too much for one man to bare. I will miss him as he is the dad I never had. Don't get me wrong, my sister and I do have a dad, but he signed his paternal rights away when I was 4. I do see him from time to time because we live in the same town, but it is not the same as he had no part in raising me and being there for me when I needed that fatherly figure. My step-dad was an wonderful man. There will never be another one like him.
The sad thing is the vultures are already hoovering over my mom ready to swoop down and take his possessions. I can't believe people are so greedy! Before he was even buried, they had their trucks backed up to the front door. Of course, my uncle did not let anyone come in or take anything. I am now worried about my mom. She isn't just grieving the loss of her husband; she has to worry about who will try to come in and 'rob' her. He did have a will and left everything to her, except a few personal items. Hopefully once everyone gets what he wanted them to have, they will leave her be.~*Michelle*~

I am so sorry for your loss- he sounds like a wonderful person. Take care of yourself and your mom.
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I'm so sorry for your loss! I know friends who've experienced the same thing with family, after a death.
They say that weddings and funerals bring out the worst in people. That seems to apply here.
I hope she deals with them easily and doesn't let them interfere with her time she needs to grieve the loss of her husband.
Thoughts out to you all.
